- 00:01:03
this week is star citizen twitch streamer and youtuber gray-headed gamer gray how you doing man doing great Jared thanks for having me so as I said you're not just a star system twitch streamer you're also a maker of many youtube videos over the course over the last you know however many years now once you tell us about all that you do for the star citizen community well it did all start on youtube I did a little research entry-level level design for CryEngine I really wanted to get an idea of the cargo capacity of my freelancer so I pulled some art assets out of star citizen game files but a freelancer on an island found a crate build the back of the freelancer with the crates and with a little math could find out the standard cargo unit capacity of each crate and then I pulled those out put them aside the ship and I made a youtube
- 00:01:51
video showing the the stack of cargo that a freelancer would hold really it was it was really just a personal project I did for myself because I'm really into cargo hauling ever since 1993 back in the privateer days you know that's all I did was cargo hauling you're also the host of not so sober Saturdays where you have a number of stars such as and luminaries on each and every week tell us about that it's a oriented one-on-one interview show we do we have a couple drinks I have a community content creator on and I let them get their ideas out there we get a behind the scenes look one of our recent guest John rain created the the set for Gamescom the desks the beautiful desks we had him on at one time and many many other community members and it's just a really good informative show to help get our community creations out there to the
- 00:02:42
community and then we have about an hour of a question and answer session at the end we do giveaways I mean it's just really a good time talking star citizen and sci-fi in general so you know if that's something that interests you every other Saturday midnight Eastern Time not so summer Saturday it's just a good time well that wraps us up for this week think grave for being on the show with that let's find out what's going on this week in star citizen hey everyone and welcome to another round of quantum questions we get to put
- 00:03:30
a CID developer in the hot seat and make them answer as many questions and just under two minutes joining us this week is Sean Tracy Sean how's it going it's going well I just don't even know where to look sometimes I just a little the camera that's you got it very good how many quite well things how many questions you think you're gonna answer I don't know I don't know you know sometimes I'm really proposed and I kind of go on and on about answering questions so I'll probably I think I'll get through probably 20 or 30 all right well let's put two minutes on the clock and go what is your name and what do you do my name is Sean Tracy I'm the technical director of quartet here at cloud pyramid games how large is your team it's 24 if I include the producers so we've got three producers worldwide for the team so 21 plus 21 what do you do on your normal day aa normal day you know I
- 00:04:23
Drive in I unlock the door I come in I sit down I grab a coffee I open up Outlook sometimes I you know check Facebook for a couple minutes maybe do a bit of shopping on eBay just and generally looking over different content pipelines a lot of people would call my my role of pipeline technical director so basically just going over all the different pipelines that we have all the different assets that we're producing and reviewing and informing changes to those pipelines what progress has been made on face over IP since we last saw at Gamescom oh it's a good question is so there's a lot of bugs that we've found and and through the involvement there basically through to go doing games come and having to get this tech into a usable state really kind of early before we were going to release this
- 00:05:10
thing was a good way to actually see a lot of the bugs we've got a lot of different QA people using the ton of feedback on it so some of the big things we put a lot of design in place for some player facing type UI and features and things like this but the biggest thing that we found was some of our mappings were going wrong depending on the depending on the implementation so we had a Lua implementation for some of the mappings and then we found out that our sequel plus implementation a little bit different so basically we are reworking the mapping so that it's just little more accurate a little more one-to-one to what we have with the rigs so there's a lot of work going into it though how much optimization is the team working on right now Oh ton of optimization there's so many different pieces of optimization as well and basically you're gonna really break it down to a CPU GPU thing as well as you know profiling the server's versus the profiling client says as most of us know
- 00:05:58
we've got our clients running at a decent framerate but as soon as you get a bunch of people on the server that's when it starts coming down a little bit so really a lot of the profiling is going on on the CPU on the server side and that's being headed up by Carson Wentz so down in Frankfort and we've made massive progress and then even on the GPU and asset side we've also made some pretty massive progress there well that's all the time we had well I said 20 or 30 that was like that was like 20 words Shawn thank you so much for taking the time to join us today whatever it didn't take much time Shawn goes on the board with five questions answered correctly not the 20 or 30 that he was expecting but I think he had about 20 or 30 in spirit let's hop on over to Alexis to see what's going on this week and subconscious
