Hey everybody, welcome to uh this week's Citizens of the Stars, our weekly look at the amazing content creations made by you. Well, the Star Citizen community. And of course I'm a community community content manager Jared Huckaby. Now, if you've been watching this show, I like to do my intros in a different person's office every single week. So, this week we are We are um We are joining Toast, uh legal counsel for CIG, uh Los Angeles. Hey. Hello. Uh so, I'm here invading your office and uh you don't have a chair. No, I don't. You have a standing desk. That I do. This sucks. All right, uh so with that we'll throw it over to Tyler Nolan in this week's uh Citizen Spotlight. We're We're fixing this. We're fixing this. Why?

  2. 00:01:16

Hey everyone and welcome to Citizen Spotlight. This week's guest has some of the most detailed 3D models we've ever seen here at CIG, earning himself among the likes like Engineer and Rice Maiden. So, joining me this week is none other than Alcatraz. Hey Alcatraz, how's it going? Hey Tyler, I'm fine and you? Now, how did you get started in 3D printing? All right, well it was a few months ago when I started to get an interest into 3D printers and 3D printing your own stuff. I took a while to get there and finally I realized how many things you can make with a 3D printer. So, I researched and actually bought myself a printer and then learned the software for it and yeah, that's how I started. There's an amazing amount of detail going into your 3D models. How long does it take you to create one?

  3. 00:02:03

Well, the multi-tool was my first project, so I had to learn how to 3D print and actually make a model. That took me around 430 to 450 hours. Rather long, but as I said, I needed to learn the whole thing. My latest projects, like the rifles I made, they take around the same time, but they're bigger, so they take more printing time. Um but around the same. Yeah. Now, what advice do you have for others looking to get into 3D printing? Um I would tell them to really learn the software, like Fusion or similar stuff, because if you buy a printer, you can print other people's things, but not your own, and you will come to the point where you say, I want to make my own stuff.

  4. 00:02:50

And if you don't want to learn these programs, then it's rather boring, I would say. Well, that's all the time we have. Thank you so much for joining me today. Now, is it a Lore Maker's Week or a Bug Smasher's? Let's find out by seeing what's going on this week in Star Citizen. Hey everyone, and welcome to another installment of Quantum Questions, where we put a developer in the hot seat to answer as many questions as they can in just under 2 minutes. Joining us this week is none other than Bryce Benton. Bryce, how are you doing?

  5. 00:03:38

I'm doing great, thanks. Now, how well do you think you're going to do today? I think I'll do pretty good, but not as good as Mike Jones. That's probably a fair thing to say, but let's find out. We've got 2 minutes on the clock, starting now. What is your name, and what do you do at CIG? I'm Bryce Benton, I'm a QA specialist here in Austin. Now, tell me a bit about the history you've had with CIG. Uh well, originally I was a backer and a PTU tester. And I spent a lot of time on with the Twitch community. I went to PAX South with a bunch of the guys, met the CIG devs, and started talking to them about my work history and how I could help them. Uh I applied for a job, moved halfway across the country, and I'm here a year and a half later. That's awesome. Now, I understand QA testers all focus on different aspects of the game. What do you focus on? I mostly focus on back-end services and stability.

  6. 00:04:27

Great. Now, how frequent might evocati receive a new patch? Uh they could receive a patch a couple times a day, maybe. Uh once a day or um two or three times a week. Now, how did the initial rollout of the delta patcher go? Overall pretty good. Once we got over some some confusions and some problems, it it's been going really fast. Great. And what are some of the best aspects of the delta patcher in your opinion? Uh well, once they've gotten the full download, any future download will only download the files that we've changed. So, like for QA, you know, we download our build once and now every day it's a 30-second to 2-minute download. Great. What is your favorite ship? Favorite ship to fly right now is a saber, but I'm looking forward to the carrack. Breakfast tacos or barbecue? Barbecue. That's quick. What does performance testing at CIG look like?

  7. 00:05:16

Performance testing, we uh we go all around and we kind of we see what frame rates are on the server and the client. Uh we see any areas where we see some hitching. We kind of mark those things down and you know, we report them to management. And then we later on go back and use different Cvars in the profile clients to see exactly what's causing problems in those areas. All right. And what is it like working closely with the current quantum champion, Mike Jones? I have nothing bad to say about Mike Jones. Good good answer. What part of alpha 3.0 most excites you? mostly I've always been waiting for cargo in this game. I think it's going to be a lot of fun doing some hauling and doing missions with my friends and just going down and hanging out on a moon. All right. Well, Bryce, we are out of time. So, fantastic work and thank you for taking the time out of your schedule

  8. 00:06:02

to come and do this with me. Well, thanks for having me. Well, that makes 11 questions for Bryce, which doesn't put him in first place, but not bad at all. But for now, let's jump over to Alexis for this week's subconscious. Greetings, citizens. It's time for your favorite mini show in the whole verse, subconscious. I'm your host Alexis, here to let you know what's going on in the world of subscribers. First up, your ships of the month are now live. All development subscribers can access a classic five-pack that includes the Aurora, Constellation, 300i, Freelancer, and Hornet. Those are the five ships we launched the Star Citizen campaign with back at the beginning. So, it seemed appropriate to use them to celebrate the anniversary. Now, here's your job. Put together your very best anniversary video using these

  9. 00:06:49

classic ships for a chance to appear in this space. We already have one great video from Into the Unknown that shows off the Connie. Be sure to check out the full-length version in the den. This Friday will be the next subscriber flair release, or should I say hatching? Because this time it's the Dragonfly and Caterpillar, two ships that really bug me. Enjoy your flair and be aware that we're gearing up for development of new flair types. So, we'd love to hear your suggestions for what you'd like to see in the subscriber's den on Spectrum. Scanners activated and time to look ahead. Next Friday will see the release of the next issue of Jump Point, the subscriber-only digital magazine. Expect to get a closer look at the 600i and X1 lineup from Origin, plus all the usual subscriber exclusives. That's all for this week. Tune in next

  10. 00:07:36

Monday for all the latest as we head into CitizenCon. Until then, I'm Alexis and I'll see you all in the den. Hey everybody, Ben here. It's time for your top five and MVP. Number five, Jungle Rumble wallpaper by Star Medic. Try saying that three times fast. Star Medic has been one of our greatest wallpaper artists, and he's outdone himself this time with a a beautiful scene of a dog fight above a jungle canopy. It's it's a really nice one, and it makes a great Windows background. So, background that thing. Number four, Breach and Clear by Diabolus. This is a fun video of training exercises by the Southern Cross Alliance practicing capturing ships

  11. 00:08:24

intact, which will of course be a very important skill once the verse gets going. Number three, Evocati Oath by Johnny Blue 07. Um you've probably seen this shared around. It's sort of an oath-style poem created for the Evocati testing group, which I will now give a dramatic reading. The Evocati Oath. Night gathers, and now my tests begin. I shall not end until my PC explodes. I shall not break my NDA, spread no screenshots, leak no info. I shall wear no forum titles and win no raffles. I shall live and die by the soul crush. I am the sword in a sea of bugs. I am the watcher on the issue council. I am the shield that guards the realms of Avocados. I shall pledge my life and free time to

  12. 00:09:11

the Evocati test flight for this night and all nights to come. Uh so say we all as we say. Number two, Propaganda posters by Patcha. Um this is another series of just absolutely beautiful community member designed uh propaganda posters. Um there's one that's in Hurston, there's one that's three Merlins, there's a caterpillar that's I don't know why pirates are advertising for more pirates, but they are and it's beautiful. So, check out these propaganda posters. And number one and MVP is the Lego saber designed by Captain Aiden Thor. Um, there are a lot of Star Citizen backers who make absolutely beautiful Lego creations and this one is maybe even a cut above the rest. Everybody here is raving about it. It is a

  13. 00:10:00

fantastic model of the saber and uh well, check it out. Back to you, Jared. Well, that's it for this week's show. A special thanks to Dryus and Alcatraz for appearing on the show this week. Uh for Citizens of the Stars, I'm Jared Huckaby. We'll see you next week. Look, I told you I was going to get you a chair. Do I not deliver? Well, it doesn't have six cup holders. Six cup holders? I know how much you like to drink. A genius is never recognized in their time. Thank you for watching. So, if you want to keep up with the latest and greatest in Star Citizen and Squadron 42's development, please follow us on our

  14. 00:10:48
