greetings citizens and welcome to another all-new edition of reverse diverse life the only star citizen broadcasts on the internet that knows when to hold them knows when to fold them knows when to walk away I was torturing JJ earlier I'm your host Content Manager Jared Huckaby on the show this week we've got senior UI programmer hugo silva on the show to follow up on yesterday's atv featuring the continuing development of our shop item kiosks a new feature that will add increasing depth to weapons components and make even more things available in the stars to the citizen universe than ever before but before we get to that let's do the Week in Review now last week we had designer Rob Reiner ger and engineers Chad McKinney and Michael Dillon on to discuss the current status in future design of our service beacon system now it would be impossible for me to overstate how crucial this

  2. 00:01:00

system will become in bringing players together within the star citizen universe if you haven't checked it out yet if the replay is available now up on YouTube now Monday Monday brought with it the release of another all new episode of our weekly Q&A series calling all Depp's this time featuring such backers submitted backer voted on subjects as the difference between passive and active scanning ranges overloading your ships with cargo the future of the party or group system and more now as usual calling all devs is your chance to submit questions and vote on which ones you want to see address most each and every week you can participate right now in the thread up on spectrum it's in that general section now this last week also saw a number of star citizen community contests with three different screen shot contests coming to a close in in fiction laura

  3. 00:01:48

contest for the recently revealed hercules star lifter from crusader industries and most recently a backer submitted video tutorial contest the community team here is working hard to give you guys as many ways to interact with each other as possible that's a showcase everything the star citizen community has to offer and perhaps even even be rewarded for your efforts now if you have any questions about which one of these contests might be the right one for you you can find details about each and every one of them upon spectrum it's where everything is also available this week our citizencon tickets now held in Austin Texas this year it promises to be the largest gathering of star citizens of all time with a variety of type of activities that can only be experienced there in person now the chance to meet our developers the chance for our developers to meet and greet as many of you as possible is always the highlight

  4. 00:02:36

of our year and with no Gamescom event this year for 2018 don't miss what might be your only chance to meet Chris Aaron and an entire host of star citizen developers in person and tell them how much you love the carrick now I joke here but I've personally borne witness to the effect meeting our backers in person has had on developers both in recharging their batteries and in focusing their efforts now you can pick up your citizen gun 29:48 tickets now on the robert space industries comm website while they're still available and then finally yesterday saw the release of the latest episode of around the verse with some stellar reviews of the planet Herson so cool a look at the current state of the Vandal blade and work being done on our shop item kiosks and when we return we'll be sitting down with hugo silva from foundry 42 UK to talk more

  5. 00:03:25

about this important feature so stay tuned we'll be right back [Music] hey welcome back so we are sitting down

  6. 00:04:27

with senior UI programmer hugo silva Hugo how you doing man hi Jay hi guys don't get that right senior uy programmer yeah that's it it's all it's always a 50/50 proposition with me dude it's its titles man it's I'm that guy and that guy Thanksgiving dinner you know sitting down with a bunch of brothers I'm like we passed the salt air Jeff Clark it's amazing I get anything right so welcome to I welcome your first time here on reverse the purse oh thank you very much thank I'm glad to be here I will see we'll see by the same way by the end of the show now until now now because every show is somebody's first show and even if it wasn't this is still your first time on our TV why don't we take a few moments tell everybody who you are and what you do for star citizen so hi my name is

  7. 00:05:18

Hugo I'm a senior uy developer here at foundry 42 in the UK I am from Portugal I moved to the UK a couple of years ago I've been always interested in videogames and of course sci-fi is one of my favorites I've been interested in the star citizen project for some time now and I decide to apply try to help the team try to make even better UI and UX components so I decide to apply I got here and I'm absolutely loving it now I remember when you started yeah you were actually here very early early honor those we've met we've been in person here at this yeah how long have you been with the company now

  8. 00:06:07

so it's actually been nine months no I believe I was actually an LA before the release of 3.0 and working on some well I can say now we're some character customizer stuff and creating well basically the UI components for that so that was cool right now Hugo of course works in our UI department and this is a game that has an unbelievable amount of UI elements because you know a lot of games the only UI necessary is okay here's the stuff that's that sits over your your POV of your character kind of thing or here some inventory and menus but we've got it we've got it

  9. 00:06:54

we're building a diegetic universe you know full of different customized UI you know for different casaba versus you know versus a you know versus what's what's the but what's the ship manufacturer called why am i blinking right now what's way just know that the the dumpers depot and stuff like that you know all these different like this how did you get into UI like you decide you wanted to work into video games how did how did you figure out you I like you I is the thing I wanted to do so I guess I figured this out some time ago I was always interested in like how we actually get to interface with let's say applications with gangs sometimes we play a game that looks really nice but doesn't quite give you all of the hints

  10. 00:07:45

that you need to play the game properly and I got really frustrated at some games that didn't have for example a nice UI that would actually lead the way and actually make you play the game easier so during my career I actually worked a lot in business basically making business applications easier for customers to interact with reach objectives faster basically analyzing the behavior of the customers to try and make shortcuts so that applications would actually be more efficient and of course all of this also translates into games how do we make UI more interactive more appealing so to speak how do we actually make it part of the world not

  11. 00:08:34

just something that you well you see on scream that you have on a ship now how do we actually like make it exist in the world like can we have holographic volumes that you can interact with that you can look at from multiple perspectives just basically mating stuff look cooler basically well it's an incredibly important part and I said I worked I worked with Zane for a number of years you know back when he was here in the LA office before he relocated out to Manchester the there's a lot of work to be done on started but but just just the new UI stuff just what you guys what you guys the tasks that you guys have ahead of you and the work that you're doing to to surmount that task you know each and every week is one of the more impressive

  12. 00:09:22

aspects of that of the development I can see so I'm excited to have young now for our viewers watching wherever you are we are taking questions live during the show you can submit your questions in one of two places you can either submit your questions in the twitch chat where you can preface your question with the word question in capital letters surrounded by brackets it's going to help our community team you know pull the questions out from the rest of the chat you can also do so on spectrum in our general chat there same rules question previs what the word question in capital letters from Hebei brackets just helps our guys pull them out from the conversation now I do want to say we did collect some questions ahead of time in another in a different spectrum thread or people got to vote part of the reason we're talking about you know we're talking with Hugo today and about the kind of work he does is because Hugo is here he's a UI programmer so the kind

  13. 00:10:11

of questions that the helo can feel tend to do with the UI and the creation of the of the the creation of the shop item kiosk the technology involves like that there's a distinction between those and design questions I you know design questions will we be able to ever do this will we be able to ever do that that's actually not a field that Hugo's gonna be involved in so much so if you I know everybody loves those design questions I've been doing this for three years but in those four three years everybody loves the design questions everybody wants to know when this is gonna happen when that's gonna happen how is this gonna work you know down the line what not we don't always have those guests every year not the Hugo is not wonderful I left you go I'm so happy you're here let me check I just realized I could do this but uh but uh this is this this one

  14. 00:10:59

isn't a design show it's like this shows where we have artists on so from the thread a number of questions came in talking about you know buying ships in game I'm gonna tell you Hugo's not the guy to talk to about that so we're not going to be able to cover any of that trust me it's still a topic close close to our heart you've seen todd papy talk about it on calling all devs we will have more information about the the buying or selling or whatever of ships in the game without Buse we'll have that information at a later time this just isn't the show and I can cut out like half of these questions by just covering that so Hugo right off the bat so with the questions that you know might be in your will ask you know as far as programming and design and stuff will we be able to buy multiple items at once so I thought when we're going through can

  15. 00:11:49

we pick like we add to a shopping cart and then checkout or so currently the actually the process of the item kiosk is a very focused on per item selection so let's say you would pick some let's say 50 caliber MMO for your gun you would be able to actually pick the quantity of ammo that you want to buy but we don't kind of have the experience of a shopping cart we are not expecting expecting you to buy some ammo and then go to another section and then buy other stuff and then only do the purchase at the end no you would probably pick the ammo equip it or send it to global

  16. 00:12:39

inventory and then actually move forward I'm not sure how this in the future is actually going to be but for now this is the application that we we have for the item kiosk project so this week's a to be mentioned they brought us the first mention of global inventory of this global inventory now we what can you tell us about this this first implementation of global inventory and how it's supposed to work with the shop item kiosks so this came out as a safe place that we can actually put all of the items that the the player has you always have the option of buying an item and equipping that item to let's say a

  17. 00:13:28

ship or let's say a slot on your character um but we also may have duplicates we may have large quantities of items and we use this global inventory to actually just have a safe place that we know belongs to player number X and every time that he wants to browse his wares we just redirect him to the global inventory and we know everything that he owns matter now the next question for the thread there says do you foresee a future where NPC interaction can perform any of these same functions as the kiosk like like is there been a to talk about about going to an NPC and having much of the same functionality that you would

  18. 00:14:17

get from a key from a kiosk actually this question is very interesting we didn't talk about it but we can see as at least in my opinion like a really nice opportunity for roleplay as we currently have with the shops where players can physically go to the items look at the items inspect the items it would also be very nice to go to let's say an NPC on that store and actually do a traditional buy currently there's actually no plans but it is a something that we would consider maybe in the future now right now in the game we have we have we have storefronts where you go and you cassava where you can go in and

  19. 00:15:08

you can see all the physical items and what not a big part a big part of the reason for the creation of a shop item chaos because we want to introduce more items to the game than we can currently display in in these shops it's it's always this it's always this not necessarily a chicken the egg but it's always a question of prerequisites it's we've got content teams that are you know designing you know like for instance let's just use clothing as an example you've got the character art team who can you know they may be cranking out 50 different shirts you know 50 different pants 50 different jackets you know every every X number of months but we don't necessarily have the physical environments in which to display 50 new shirts and 50 different

  20. 00:15:56

pants and I am just pulling numbers out of the thin air guys I did just for this a so the shop item kiosks allow for us to implement these items without having the bottleneck of waiting for you know new environments to be added new physical shops and stuff and am i right now that it's I'm pretty sure I'm writing that I'm just looking for company yeah so one of the actual the things that actually came to make the item kiosks very important as exactly as you say the limit to the limit physical space that stores have let's just imagine that a store could have the thruster of a reclaimer that's like half the store right there it's not gonna walk in and go like oh I really like that frustr

  21. 00:16:44

yeah it's don't worry it's right there you can't miss it so it got to a point that we want to have a way where we can present all of the items that we want to sell to the player and a in normal way instead of like having a pile of just like coolers on the store that would just not work is if you want the cooler on the top well you need to platform there that is just not usable at all so this is going to enable us like in reality stores that have this place sure they show some items they show clothes but they also have a storage facility in the back and we can store those items there like

  22. 00:17:34

people do in reality of course yeah a couple of the questions that we've seen come in not just this morning but on the thread yesterday had to do with a little bit of concern that shop at MPs were going to replace the the diegetic you know emerge immersive universe of star citizen and I think if anybody that's been following the project to you know since the beginning we can probably a touch to this we're so we're so committed to the to keeping as many things diegetic and as many things you know in there in lieu in the world from from transferring cargo to to having storefronts that I don't think there's any I don't think anybody needs to worry that the kiosks will replace the the tactile sensation of walking into into cassava and seeing you know all the

  23. 00:18:22

clothes it's just meant it's meant to augment and to address certain bottlenecks yeah the the item kiosk is going to serve kind of like a parallel option that players have to bind stuff basically you can still go up to the item that you want and you can still buy it as well right now so the the item kiosk is just a feature that we have that will enable you if you really want to let's say you're in a hurry you you don't or for instance you don't like to roleplay you don't like to go into the item you can go to the item kiosk and buy the item that you want the other hand if you still want to you feel the experience of

  24. 00:19:10

going into a shop looking how cool my new quantum drive is going to look before I put it in the ship and then see it again so there's always that option so we're not taking it away from the player the player has the choice and of course you know that there's an immersive aspect even to the shop item kiosk one of the things we noticed in the in the reveal yesterday was the themed different interfaces between cassava and and dumpers depots like that what are the questions how do you go about making the kiosks still be an immersive experience so we tried to keep it as realistic as possible not even nowadays we have places that have kiosks on the shop and

  25. 00:20:00

people can go in probably interact with a tablet or a kiosk and make the purchase and then pick it up from the counter we try to make it as customizable as possible you would get a feeling when you enter a casaba that you would see the theme in the item kiosk everything would look kind of familiar it doesn't need to be exactly a copy-paste of everything on the shop but you would immediately go like mmm I know this this is part of cassava okay I know I know this is going to give me cool clothes again this is what in reality stores do as well they keep branding and fee me to keep everyone

  26. 00:20:50

kind of like okay I went to this shop but I know the shops name follow-up question from the live chat there do all the different kiosks function the same if I learn how to do a casaba one am I gonna am I gonna is the dumpers team I'm gonna work the same or do they have a different menu hierarchy how different or similar are these different kiosks so in terms of item kiosks separation that we have we currently have separations between vehicles and characters so imagine you go to a casaba you would expect to find a character item kiosk so it's only going to deal with character items let's say you want a pair of new

  27. 00:21:41

pants yeah you want a new helmet okay you can find it and then if you go to let's say a store the first Depot where it's traditionally vehicles okay you could find okay I need to buy new quantum drive okay you're gonna find it there and you're gonna find it because you can pre-select at least in the case of the the vehicles can pre-select the the vehicle so I need a new quantum drive for my Gladius okay no worries just go in select the Gladius browse the quantum drives they have available for you buy it as simple as that now the you mentioned by a quantum drive for your Gladius when you buy a quantum drive your Gladius where does

  28. 00:22:30

that item go okay so currently we have two options it can go either to the global inventory which we talked about it's kind of like the safe space where we keep all of the items for the player or we can directly equip that item in a valid ship so let's say you were browsing information about the Gladius you see a cool quantum drive you want to equip it immediately you would do that selection and and of course that is the current initial implementation of that like any star citizen game system the first implementation will continue to iterate

  29. 00:23:17

will continue to evolve I I imagined there were a couple questions about whether we could have things delivered to our hangars you know instead of a global I'm drinking me how can we have an item delivered you know to our personal hangars and it sits there physically or can we have it delivered to our ship hold for instance you know maybe we don't want to equip it right now but we can deliver it to to the ship hold has I know that's not the first implementation but has there been any discussion about that honestly I can't talk I really don't know in my opinion it would be really cool to have that and maybe it's something that we could move towards but it depends on the feedback that we get from the players and the sense of direction that we really want to move forward you know and I mean

  30. 00:24:09

technologically we have the option now it will depend does it make sense does it not make sense will it bring benefit to someone yeah Preben probably yes probably now let's see I'm you did so well there he I said you I was hoping you were gonna give that exact answer guys that's how these systems always work there will be that first in there will be that first implementation that is the advantage of running a live environment in the middle of our game development is that is that you know you don't have to go 50 steps down in a plan you can have ideas you can have Faso like we maybe we can do this maybe we can do this but because we have the live environment you know in the middle of our game Devon we get to push that first implementation out that tier 0 version of it see how you guys respond see what

  31. 00:24:56

you guys like about it see what you guys don't and then make plans based on that so it's basically I was a design question but I was I was hoping Hugo would would feed me exactly what I need to need it so thank you so much here from the live chat will kiosks have a search input or do I have to scroll through every item in casaba before I find that red jacket I'm looking for so currently in the design we do not have a search option but again like your while we were talking about this is the first implementation we are going to gather feedback according to the feedback that we get of course changes Maya might be made we may move towards that it just depends depends on basically what the

  32. 00:25:45

players tell us of course if they're gonna say like oh I really hated going to this store the store has like 5,000 items and it's horrible ok that's a pretty good motive yes you know it's definitely I said without city it that's also design question as opposed to an implementation question Hugo's is our is our programmer who implements these things but I think it's a pretty safe bet that as the game continues to expand and as we add more shirts and more pants and more weapons and more ships that yes there will be filters in and I've in that sense will there be a direct comparison option but basically they're asking is there been any talk of you show me the the Rattler mish missile versus the Talon missile and have them

  33. 00:26:35

both up on the screen with comparative stats kind of stuff yes so for the item kiosk we all have comparisons currently for tier zero this is going to be a simplified comparison again this is an evolving system this is the first implementation that we're going to do it is possibly going to get much better in the future but until then we'll have comparison but simplified version a lot like we have currently where players actually browse through the items and need to pay attention to its description to actually get the values they want but in the future we're moving towards having a

  34. 00:27:23

more how should I say visually appealing way of actually comparing stats yes these a lot of these designs you know they start with the designer doing a crude doing a very crude kind of kind of Visio type thing and you guys come in and you you at you guys make it you know look as amazing as you do but even that is sent again it's still tier zero it's still it's it's we are constantly because we have this advantage we have this amazing advantage that no other game does where we have the live environment a little of our univille it's it's it's we push out these in iterative interim versions of things so that you can get your feedback all throughout the development process and you see that we see that in a ship you eyes you know how much the ship you eyes have changed over the years we see that

  35. 00:28:10

in just the the the vehicle plane are the they insurance the insurance stuff and in the in this vehicle selection stuff and how much that's improved over here so it's it's it's if you ever think yeah I suppose what I'm about to say now it just goes out to the streamers but the streamers the youtubers whatever if you don't if you don't if you think nobody's watching your stuff if you think that our developers aren't aren't sitting in there with you know with with with with a streamer with mitachi or something up on the side monitor you know watching watching not only how he's interacting with things but how the chat you know is reacting to his interaction things and getting our we take feedback from every Avenue it's not just spectrum it's not just reddit we want we watch your streams we watch your videos it's like that so it's this

  36. 00:28:58

advantage that we have of getting to watch you guys use these iterative versions of the system to help us and guide to the next version cannot be overstated oh yeah that is very true and actually in terms of like euy well you why everyone has their personal opinion some people like it one way other people like other way and we actually do like to receive good and bad feedback about the UI and we do take that into consideration so don't think just because you posted that no one actually saw it yeah we we do see it a lot absolutely and part of the part of the great work that our community team does and I guess that because I'm not on the community anymore is correlating about

  37. 00:29:47

that stuff and sending clips to people say look how this person is using this and look how this person is using this and stuff like that so so it's a keep up the good work guys let's see will every company like Douglas Depot casaba have individually designed kiosks we have a lot of companies in this game a lot of corporations I don't know if every company will have one but what companies to be worked on so far let's do that so the test setting is actually based on casaba mmm it's a motive our motive is Abba actually as you might understand we have test scenarios test levels and we just put a casaba with all available clothes and all available vehicle parts and it's

  38. 00:30:38

a massive store and it basically allows us to test those the player items and the vehicle items and the same well which in terms of development is just amazing of course parallel developments are being done for the other brandings as well of course but our main focus well at least my development main focus was on cassava as you can imagine we also have artists who are creating the themes for the UI assets and those guys are of course always working on you templates new branding schemes and those guys are the guys who actually know all about this here's an interesting question from the live chat has there been a

  39. 00:31:27

discussion about a history like see the things that you bought previously one of the one of the reasons this seems interesting to me is if you find like four people who are having to replenish physical ammo yeah you know ballistic weapons so that you you find like like you know I have my Hornet and I have my Hornet configured the way that I like it I mean it's all ballistic weapons it's all bliss weapons and there's a bunch of different ammo types of a bunch of different missile types and I like the missiles and the ammo you know and the ballistic like ammo that's but I find that I like is there a way to just like find favorites in seven like so I always just go and find directly to do the things I want you know we live in a min/max society so I think this question

  40. 00:32:16

strikes me as a min/max kind of thing well currently we don't have any plans for some kind of like buying history it does seem like it a really interesting idea the maybe that's something that we can consider in the future currently we focused more on just making it available for players to go into the store and buy the item we we didn't consider the trends the records being kept through all of the transactions that went along but again it is a nice idea it's something that we can discuss and thank you for the feedback inventory counts the question just came in about immigrants now I would imagine

  41. 00:33:04

at this early stage the shops don't have like a limited number like you going to go stop it right now they don't run out of the red jacket you know if 50 people come in and they all buy the red jacket I don't do they run out of the red jacket I don't think they do do they anyway probably not yes has there been any talk about about for the through this back room about adding an inventory count to the things that are on the kiosks so I do know that systems is working on this there's actually a balancing of quantities going on I do not have enough information to talk about it but there was a conversation and yeah it seems to be working on of course now with the item kiosk we just make it available for people to you buy high quantities of

  42. 00:33:54

items unlike on the go so of course something is being done to well correct this kind of behavior unfortunately I don't have enough information to actually say yes or no yeah and and just to clarify where I was going that of course there will be inventory counts you know in in the full complete you know operating universally inventory counts are one of the ways game design encourages players to travel and to explore the galaxy you don't want every single truck stop every single space station every single planet to have an unlimited supply of everything that they have we want that to be part of the gameplay where you and your your organized and they have to have to you

  43. 00:34:41

know track the the the quantities and the availabilities of certain items you know maybe not necessarily a red jacket but you know hyper dry or hyperdrives quantum drives quantum drives and stuff like that so I was speaking primarily of this first iteration about whether there were there were inventory counts in this in this 2-0 and implementation I don't think there are not zero we'll see yeah but this is exactly like we're adding this system exactly to wreak chaos we're gonna bring chaos to the system and let's see let's see the changes that this is going to bring in the future this is actually fantastic to mess economy up which will then fix exactly balance it out I don't remember

  44. 00:35:34

if we talked about this at the end of show but it just came in on a live chat can we buy amounts of something like can we sit there and it's like I want to buy five u55 magazines directed by one magazine for just one night it does have quantities yes here's a pretty general question can you briefly explain the process of creating a new kiosk okay so in terms of technology what I can tell you guys is that we have a concept of a store let's say that this store has a radius of about 200 yards we created an object that we defined as an item kiosk if we drag that object within the radius of the store it will immediately pick up

  45. 00:36:23

all the inventory that that store has we created the system to be the easiest way to allow designers to create new item kiosks to have a concept of store to have actually an easy way to manipulate all the information related to that store this is going to be in the future when designers want to actually put the item kiosks inside of multiple stores may that be the ones that we have available now may that be the ones that we're going to put in the future as simple as dragging and dropping that object into that store and everything should work of course there might be issues but I'm expecting those they don't happen yeah I you said something

  46. 00:37:15

200 yards what's what's what's the what's the radius for so basically we're defining kind of a trigger that says everything that is inside of these 200 yards is still inside of a shop so every let's say item kiosk item that we put in side of the map if it's inside of those 200 yards it will detect okay I belong to this shop so the the 200 yards isn't like set in stone it can be determined by the designer he can specify okay how big how small he wants the store to be so that everything that is inside of that store well it counts as inventory basically okay on a smaller space station if

  47. 00:38:03

there's a kiosk that's within the range of multiple stores like I could like if there's a if there's a kiosk that's within the 200 ranges of conscientious objection that casaba could a single kiosk operate for both stores it is possible although it should not be configured that way let's say that we had to cassava stores next to each other on the middle exactly in the middle they had an item kiosk and both stores have a radius that expands and covers that item kiosk that item kiosk would then show items for both stores of course the configurations done by the designers would probably never allow that to happen all right let's see the other

  48. 00:38:55

thing that I thought of when you mentioned the 200-yard radius and I thought of this because it has actually come up in both yesterday's question thread and the live chat people are curious if they'll be able to key into the kiosk with their mobile ass I think from reading the comments here I think some of the concern is that you know trying to have 50 people all bunched up at the same kiosk you like like you often see and many mmo's could weaken could something like if you get within that 200 yard range you know I can just bring up the kiosk on my mobi glass so we all don't have to stand around in a you know a huddle like that is anything like that been discussed actually I believe I did see that uh that uh questioning spectrum was it I believe so that is a super question currently we

  49. 00:39:46

don't we perceive the idea of using the item kiosk as actually going to the physical object it would be in my opinion super interesting to actually have some kind of way to switch it up instead of going actually to the item kiosk like having the concept of a digital app that would be at least to me it seems like super cool but currently we have the idea of going to the item kiosk and doing all of the purchases there like you would do in real life right and some places even have like four or five tablets that people go to the tablet sometimes they need to queue to use the tablets that's just reality as we see it now of course the the idea

  50. 00:40:36

that actually that person put out is actually very good yeah well my reality is that by everything off of Amazon I don't I don't go in I don't go I don't walked into a store and I'm locked into a physical brick-and-mortar store in awhile so it's actually funny because I actually prefer to go in store actually a lot of people do and I could see that like if you were buying a TV or something you want to see the picture you want you want you want you want you know there's information that you can get in a Brooklyn or that you can't get online but for the most part you know for my day-to-day stuff you know I buy everything on Amazon so it's ultimately to follow up on that question it's mostly a that's actually a design question I was asking here to see if he was aware of any conversations I don't want to sit there and and and rule

  51. 00:41:23

anything out guys I I don't want to commit to it that yes you'll be able to do it no you won't be able to do it I can tell you just from three years of talking with game designers almost four years of talking with game designers here these systems the kiosks the physical locations unlike the real world where you know it's it's perfectly normal you know to just sit at home and order everything get my groceries on Amazon get my toiletries on Amazon everything that I do in a videogame you you you want as many things to drive people to different locations as possible so so you know even though because there's gonna be people I can already see it in the chat people that you can do that today why wouldn't you be able to do it 930 years in the future and goes and that's one of those things where you take it to the point of

  52. 00:42:11

realism then you have to bring it back to the point of video game and making a video game work like that so I'm we're not gonna say you can do it I'm not gonna say you can't do it's a design question neither one of us are designers at the moment but it's definitely a conversation I think it's worth having so I expect there to be a thread either on spectrum or on reddit or both and where you guys have that conversation and remember that will be will be watching so another question from the live chat says are there plans for item kiosks for rec rentals now that's interesting and I'm gonna go ahead and I'm gonna jump in here wreck is it rec is a currency for the the electronic access games it's for its for the game within a game for arena

  53. 00:42:59

commander and starring rec was never intended to function in the persistent universe it has in many ways over the years just because of limitations of our platform system you know they'd have to have the rented ships and whatnot that we didn't have a way to differentiate that on the platform side and that's why some of those rented items functioned in the persistent universe but the rec specifically is was always intended to be a thing that used inside or any commander and star memory so probably not going to see persistent universe kiosks that allow you to get things through rec I will say that doesn't preclude the ability to rent things in the purses in universe you know I can rent things in real life I would imagine

  54. 00:43:47

there's absolutely going to be some way shape or form to rent things in the persistent universe and maybe that's what rec will evolve into I don't know we're not there yet but I just I just we've seen that question come up a couple times I see questions about record the precision universe come up a couple of times so that's why I wanted to to address it right there and you have anything to add to that Hugo currently I don't have information about that that's basically the best I can say it's right we wrapped up we're all we're almost done remember guys that you can submit your questions live in either twitch chat where you can preface your question with the word question it's around by brackets or in the spectra chat if you're submitting questions you're wondering hey why aren't they asked answering my question that's because we're sitting here with hugo silva who is a UI programmer so we're taking questions that relate to the programming

  55. 00:44:34

of our UI elements I should also mention that on next week's calling all Deb's we have a couple UI based questions coming up on there whether I'm todd papy so so it'll be even more UI information on next week's show let's see what else do we have here that might be in your realm we got questions about weather kiosks whether there will be black market kiosks added to pirate hubs I'm gonna tell you raft about where we're a couple carts before the horse on that one I don't there's no but I mean in theory craft and there's nothing that would prevent pirates from having their own you know shop faces and having their own technologies and stuff so in terms of technology the technology exists it would be a configuration that we would

  56. 00:45:24

need to do for that case but this involves a lot more planning than just putting them in this would probably change balance in terms of economy how would that play out so in terms of like technology in the future they might shoulda might show up Mike but for now ya know III I can tell you Chris has every intention of making a very robust you know game plays making very robust gameplay systems for the for the less legal side of a place like that it's just as in in the in the timeline of development you have to build all the systems for how the things are supposed to work before you build the systems for how the things are supposed to skirt

  57. 00:46:12

them you know it doesn't make any sense to build you well this is how you get around the rules until you've got all the rules in place so so that that's where we're gonna but I know a lot of people are very excited to play outlaw game play our own standing gardener included you know I mean I don't know I'm a goody-two-shoes in video games most times but all right well actually you know what that's about all we got time for today Hugo you made it look congratulations well thank you very much now guys we're going to take a short break we're gonna play another video from the community and when we return we'll have the wrap-up so stay tuned we'll be right back well none of our wraps up this week's

  58. 00:51:04
