Hello everybody. Welcome to this week's Citizens of the Stars, our weekly look at the amazing content creations made by you, the Star Citizen community. I'm your host for this week, community content manager Jared Huckaby. Now, to get things started, we're going to throw it over to to Tyler Nolan and this week's Citizen Spotlight. It's not a very big couch, is it? Hey everyone and welcome to Citizen Spotlight, our chance of highlighting some of the amazing content creators within the Star Citizen community. And joining me this week is Ryce Mayden. Hey Ryce Mayden, how's it going? Not too bad. Half our state's on fire, but I can't complain.

  2. 00:01:19

Now, how did you get started in all of this? So, I had been a backer of Star Citizen for about a year and I thought I have a passion for engineering and I have a passion for lots of sci-fi stuff. And so, I thought why not combine the two? So, one night I sat down with the Origin M50 Holo Viewer model and just kind of figured it out, you know? I Nobody had taught me how to do it and I threw together my first model, which was the M50 and ever since I've been making models the same way and they've been working out. Where did you come up with the idea to combine plywood with 3D printed plastic? So, with 3D printing, 3D printing takes a lot of time and I don't have a lot of

  3. 00:02:08

time. My 3D printer is used for a lot of different things. And so, I wanted to come up with a way to make big models, models that you could show on a desktop that are appealing to people, but don't take more than a weekend to build. And so, by using laser cutting and by using 3D printing, you get a pleasant-looking model with the detail you want, but something that doesn't take a week's worth of 3D printer time to make. Is there a particular model that you're favorite of? The Vanduul Glaive was is my favorite thus far. It's one I'd been wanting to make for quite a while. I didn't do it at first initially because there was kind of some learning that went along with it. It's built differently than a lot of the other ships. And so, once I got comfortable with that, I ended up putting it together and I'm really happy

  4. 00:02:56

with how it came out. Tell us what you're working on right now or that you have coming up. So, the biggest thing I'm working on right now is I am donating the first, second, and third place trophies to VerseCon in October. When I get those done and shipped over to Texas, if you're in the Arena Commander tournament, you should be able to have a chance at winning one of my models. Rice Warden, thank you so much for taking the time to join me today. That's all we have for today. Let's see what's going on this week in Star Citizen. Hey everyone, and welcome to another

  5. 00:03:48

installment of Quantum Questions, where we put a developer in the hot seat to answer as many questions as they can in just under 2 minutes. Joining us this week is none other than Bear of Red. Bear, how are you doing? Fantastic. Great. Now, how well do you think you're going to do today? I'm shooting for average. Fair enough. Well, let's find out. We've got 2 minutes on the clock starting now. What is your name and what do you do at CIG? My name is Michael Smith, also known as Bear of Red. I'm a game support agent. And why do people call you Dr. Bear? I have my doctorate degree in paleontology. Impressive. Now, what's the most popular peripheral used in Star Citizen? Outside of mouse and keyboard, the Thrustmaster T.16000M. Okay. What is the most fulfilling part of your job at CIG? I like to talk to players, figure out what kinds of issues they're having with

  6. 00:04:36

the current gameplay. Um that could be balance, could be design decisions, could be bugs. Go through, systematically test those, and then chase up those issues uh up the food chain to see if I can get them fixed. What control setup do you use when playing? Right now, I'm using dual stick, two Virpil T-50s, and uh CH Pro Pedals. Very nice. How many hours would you say you have played in Star Citizen? Uh on my personal account on live, I've approximately 2,240. On my dev account, a little over 300 or so. And on other accounts, 200 to 300 hours. Wow, okay. I understand you get around town in style. Tell me about that. I have a Russian motorcycle with a sidecar attached that my dog rides in. Very nice. Now, what did you do before

  7. 00:05:24

working at CIG? I taught biology at Indiana University. Now, if you could change one thing about the game, what would it be? I'd like to see the implementation of the CBI so that players can get a lot of really cool feedback about what's going on around them, a lot of cool targeting stuff, and just see that in game. Great. Now, who is your favorite Star Trek captain? Jean-Luc Picard. Good answer. And your favorite ship? Carrack all. Now I understand you interact a lot with the community. What do backers most commonly want to talk to you about? Usually it's ship balance, ship performance, combat balance, that sort of thing. All right. Now out of the three moons coming in Star Citizen Alpha 3.0, which one are you most looking forward to exploring? I have to say Daymar. All right. And it looks like we are actually out of time right at the buzzer. So Bayor, thank you so much for

  8. 00:06:12

taking the time out of your schedule and doing this with us. Yeah, no problem at all. Well, that makes 13 questions for Bayor, which doesn't make him the quantum champion, but it's definitely not bad. Make sure to tune in next week to find out who's taking on the hot seat. Greetings subscribers. Alexis here with the latest edition of Subconscious, the mini show that's just for subscribers. First up, we have a brand new issue of Jump Point coming on Friday. This time around the magazine will look at how we updated several ships for Alpha 3.0, including the Aurora, Aquila, and some others that don't start with A. Next, want to see something blow up? This week's Vault is a work in progress imagery of an Idris exploding. You know what they say, the larger the ship, the bigger the bang.

  9. 00:07:00

And don't forget, your ship of the month is the Herald. I've already seen some beautiful images submitted in the den so far. Check out this great shot from Loafer who took a break to admire the beauty of the 'verse. Keep posting your Herald images in the den and we'll show them off throughout the month. With that, I'm out. Until next time, I'll see you all in the den. Hey everybody, I'm back. This is Ben Lesnick, Director of Community Engagement, kicking off your Top Five and MVP. I can see! Number five, 600i wallpaper by Starmatic. Starmatic has been making Star Citizen fan art for as long as I can remember and this latest one does not disappoint. He has the 600i in this

  10. 00:07:50

picture over this beautiful city vista. It makes a nice wallpaper. Number four, electronic access and REC for Germans by Jared. Not sure if a particular ship or weapon fits your style, learn the ropes of loaning and buying items with REC, the virtual currency that you can earn in game with this German video tutorial by Jared. Number three, Genesis Starliner layouts by Sir Berticus. Who among us has not sat down and tried to imagine different internal configurations for the Genesis Starliner? Well, Sir Berticus has gone a little bit further and actually drawn them all out so you can see what it might look like if it had a cargo mode or a max capacity mode. Um, if you're a fan of air travel in space, this one's for you. Number two, 3D printed Behring rifle by Alcatraz Skywalker.

  11. 00:08:39

You know all those panicky news stories about how now that 3D printers are available, criminals will print their own weapons and rob banks? Well, this is like that but only the cool part. He's created an actual Behring rifle from Star Citizen in reality. And number one and MVP goes to Astoria Wide News number three by Lucky Strike. One of my absolute favorite things in the world is seeing people put together their own in-universe publications and Lucky Strike has created one for his group Astoria. They're a backer-run security organization and it's just a cool magazine similar to the ones we put out for different ships and I want to see more of this, so nice job, everybody. Back to you, Jared. Well,

  12. 00:09:33

that about does it for this week's show. A special thanks to uh Michael Smith and the rice lady for appearing on the broadcast this week. For Citizens of the Stars, I'm Jared Huckaby.
