  4. 00:02:50

can call me spec 101 um and then there's a lengthy explanation of why he sent us some potatoes with our names on them so we've got we got Amanda in the UK uh that's Jared that's just Ganda there's a this one's toast has a uh tie oh that one's that to you oh there I am there you go I think I'm the only one with my actual picture on the potato yeah your is actually quite let's see four sale ships oh that's krackin that's Henry I thought there was one of Chris oh this is this Chris that is Chris he's the king potato oh wow there we go thank you Ben what is the latest version of Star Citizen that's it for the potato report we'll see you next time exactly what is

  5. 00:03:39

the latest version of Star Citizen uh well we've got Star Citizen Alpha 2.3.1 on the live server right now that gives you access to the uh persistent Universe Crusader environment where you can fly missions engage at FPS combat uh crew multi crew ships do kind of all the initial star and stuff you've also got access to the hanger module racing uh Arena Commander for dog fighting and offline stuff uh just all sorts of stuff you can do with start season right now mhm and we're still holding a free fly if uh you're thinking about it but you haven't pledged just yet so the free fly runs until Monday Monday yes uh we'll be free fly through Monday just register for an account and uh you're good to go and you want to tell them which ships are available yes we've got the Aurora

  6. 00:04:27

Mr the basic starter ship for Star Citizen um that's what you would get if you had bought the you know standard $45 package um there's a Mustang Delta and last but not least the Hornet the civilian Hornet f7c and speaking of hornets the military ship ends today if you would like to pick up a Super Hornet Gladiator or Retaliator get going yep last chance for the military ships for now as we're moving on to an even more exciting sale tomorrow Ben can you tell us what's coming up next yes I can the team is currently testing uh Alpha 2.4 internally and it's going to be one of our biggest iterative releases in a while it's looking like and uh we're hoping to go to the PTU and do public testing soon cool looking forward to that the April issue of jump point is now available for all of our development

  7. 00:05:16

subscribers this month we take a look at the development of the starf farer plus portfolios of Taurus electronics and the Nemo system yes it's it's a good issue uh standard all-around jump Point uh some of that content will be shared over the next month with the rest of the community some of it remains exclusive to jump Point such as the original Star CI and fiction um and I'm pretty sure that I named the electronics company here ear earlier on we did this grid of all the uh I think it was Pete Mackey and me we were just coming up with names and names and names of things that's where like gray cant came from and whenever the writers now need something they pull it from the old Corporation Matrix but uh Tarsus is the starter ship in the original Privateer so I'm betting that was me I'm not sure how Ste seriously I can take you with that potato I get that all the time yes uh the misk prospector launch is kicking off

  8. 00:06:06

tomorrow this small mining ship is ideal for those who want to strike off on their own in search of minerals and riches the prospector is uh the first of our current wave of ships they are they're smaller uh individual ships uh attached to various careers uh we're eager to show this one off in fact let's get a sneak peek right now we've also announced price changes for two of our ships the Reliant and the starf far Gemini we're hoping to launch both for Star Citizen Alpha 2.4 and we'll know more once internal testing wraps up and now let's check in with our Studios from around the world to find

  9. 00:06:53

out what they've been working on this week have a potato yay or two hey everybody and welcome back to Los Angeles California I'm Eric Kiren Davis uh I'm running this one solo no I'm not doing this one solo I guess I have what's up y'all Mr Mark Skelton is visiting from the Austin office that's why I said y'all that's why he said y'all howdy Eric welcome Mark welcome welcome back to LA thanks buddy it's good to be here so we got a couple updates for you a few things things um on the uh engineering design side we're working actively on several ships and on a bunch of systems one of the main systems is um the item system 2.0 we've talked about that a lot and it's a it's

  10. 00:07:41

a pretty big one for us as you can tell by how excited mark is here very excited um our own Mark aent Paul Randell Chad zamza everybody's kind of working plugging away on item system 2.0 as well as um 2.4 and future releases that's uh that's always a big fix for us and what about on the art side side Eric we are chugging away on the old caterpillar yeah it's big there a lot of stuff to do on that ship we're doing concepting right now pretty heavily and uh oh we have a new dude did I did I type that the New Concept guy we we introduced Justin ago that bad like um so he's he's cruising forward andot help them out it's all good and then we've got Josh on the Herold

  11. 00:08:30

right now and he's killing it Josh and Josh and Chris visiting so it's the Austin Invasion Austin invasion is what happened this week so can't have enough austinites that's right but they're out here and they'll probably come out here as often as we can just because it's a we've got a small team in the US and it's good to have all work together all right well that's it that's our updates from LA Harley Austin as well I'm Eric and this is Mark this was Mark see you guys next week hey guys Jake Ross here producer of the Austin studio and I'm here with you this week to talk a little bit about what's going on here in Austin so uh I want to first off give a little update on animation haven't done that in a little while so I want to give those guys a shout uh we are working on uh bunch of ships bunch of different ships our ship animation team here in Austin Jay

  12. 00:09:18

Brushwood and Daniel craiger uh working on a lot of different ships that are in development right now in various stages of development uh they're working on the Argo um they're working on different hanger door animations in the Idis and other other animations on the Idis uh they're working on a concept review of a ship that's been development right now that you guys should hear about pretty soon uh it's pretty cool we're excited about this one coming up won't say more right now but uh there they have to do a little review of the concept as it comes in just to make sure okay yeah that's going to work the character's going to be able to get in this way and uh so uh it's always good to get an animator's eyes on it even at that stage um so that's what they're up to uh we're also so on the Pu animation side we're actually moving some of those guys over to supporting on Squad 42 so we have a a bunch of background animations that was

  13. 00:10:08

shot uh far as part of our performance capture shoot uh by Chris Roberts himself so we have um you know a lot of different background animations and wild lines and Locomotion sets that need to get in in the game and the good news is a lot of that stuff um will also be used in the persistent universe so uh these guys can kind of knock out two birds with one stone and double duty on the uh on Squad 42 as well so uh it's good that we're going to get those guys able to support uh the UK animation team in their Endeavors um so there's that I want to give a little update on shopping so um the uh right now we're having discussions about analytics for shopping so we want to be able to capture a lot of different information uh such as the uh uh like what you guys are buying where you're buying them um you know what you're doing after you buy them uh

  14. 00:10:55

you know things like clothing and weapons and uh we want to make sure that we Gathering all that information so that we can help give you guys better things that the things that new items that you guys will enjoy uh instead of more of the same that you guys maybe won't or don't use as often so um yeah so we're we're putting some analytics in place for first release of shopping and uh I think for first release we'll probably just have the uh tracking like what you're buying and where uh but we'll add to that as as we go so so that's uh that's kind of on the one thing on the shopping uh uh schedule right now oh the last thing I'll mention is is the try- on camera so the um when you go into the shop right now and you buy something you can choose to try it on or inspect it and at that point the camera pulls out and it shows your character you can turn around show the character off um and uh see what you're

  15. 00:11:44

buying before you buy before you before you purchase it uh so we we're currently in the last stages of of tweaking the camera exactly the way Chris wants it and uh making sure that that experience uh is exactly how it should be so um finalizing those details and that at that point the shopping interface for initial release will be uh will be done so that's pretty exciting um cool that's all I got for you guys this week thanks and I'll see you around by hi everyone welcome to the UK again and uh we've got Mickey here again as you can see yes uh firstly I'd like to just clarify that the although all the studios do kind of Drive certain parts of the project it's not like the UK just W found squad for it's an awful lot of work to goes on for the Pu as well um but yeah to give you guys a heads up on

  16. 00:12:33

on a few things that are in progress that might interest you um there's a huge amount of ship artists here at the moment um as well as all the other disciplines Downstream that work on the ships U so they've been working on the freelancer very recently we' also got a lot of capital ships in progress like the javelin the Bengal and the Idis and um we've got a character team here too they've been working away in the vanal um as well as this one 42 cast um yes I've heard and what I've heard Gary alman's name being dropped a few times so yeah they're looking pretty good um so yeah I think there's there's an awful lot of stuff that is probably too much to Crown into two minutes um but hopefully you can kind of get more of an idea over the coming weeks of s more uh specific work that we're we're working

  17. 00:13:20

on here um the environment team are very s for to Folks at the minute they're working on a lot of um gas stations and research stations and whatnot for for the Odin system um but yeah I think weast the priority is SC 42 a lot of the work is um tailored towards that but the assets will be shared with the Pu it's all the same fiction and we're doing the same uh codebase and features so hopefully that explains things yes that's a lot to explain so um yeah I think that's everything yes um we'll see you in the bye bye give me Brian Cham is from Frankfurt as I promised I'm jumping in the forms and trying to read more and answer guys'

  18. 00:14:09

questions uh scruffy cave troll asked me to uh open up with that and a bunch of people responded for some God aful reason and said yes so sorry I didn't sing it but there it is um straight to the team AI um finished first pass on usables subsumption um continuing to work on it um they also wrote up some documentation on ship debugging um they're constantly consistently looking through bugs to make sure things are as tight as they can be addressing any issues as soon as they come up um also doing some general subsumption work as far as uh planning and and how subsumptions working with animations and digging in through that

  19. 00:14:56

with Idols combat scripted events and so on a lot of details to sort out on that um engine uh bug fixing for live for s42 um some air cleanup and improvements uh for more kind of precise air messaging for us so it's cleaner for us to dig through and understand what's going on uh continued with procedural Planet Tech uh the base uh Tech that's in there the base code and also some really cool progress um visually on the atmosphere atmospherics that we're doing for that um it's looking really cool um we continued with rig Logic for faces uh that's Evo working on that always trying

  20. 00:15:45

to improve to make sure that we're getting the best look on the facial um it's going to be in there for our our crazy cast that we have for squadron and openly just for uh everywhere else in the game pu and so on um continued on working on track view that's been ongoing for a bit to get hanis and the Cinematic team the tools that they need um implemented some new system Sears um continued on the physics grid uh refactoring to get that to where it needs to be to handle what we wanted to um and also working on player and ship planetary alignments for procedural planets as well kind of running over each person's uh what they've done in my head um on the weapon side uh don't want

  21. 00:16:36

to give away weapon name so I leave it fairly generic which means it probably would sound the same week after week but um finishing up one weapon uh addressing some feedback from art director on another weapon uh got some final concept for a new one so we're starting to block out the mesh and working on updating some textures on additional ones uh level design pirate base uh polish uh before they can hand that over um going through various other smaller tasks that they have uh review of the recent Hurston and all thear updates that were made um we've also had two uh technical system designer candidates here um this week so

  22. 00:17:27

that takes some time for the guys to meet with them and and put them through their Paces to see if if they're the right fit to join the team uh system design um AI work with that as far as AI Health setup um AI high level expansion um and working with the new AI tools from the AI team um also subsumption interactors uh more on power distribution that we call 2.0 um contacts app app um starting on some additional power distribution this week um and some FPS suit refactoring that we're looking into um we also have I don't know if I mentioned Steve Bender's here he'll be here for a couple months uh working out

  23. 00:18:15

of the German office to be able to go over to London for a map shoot working closely with the animators here and with Todd papier designer um or design director um and we also have have Chris out here later this week to sit and hang out with the team Tech side design side across the board just to kind of see where we're at so um this week we also had uh Phoenix Interstellar or last week rather the end of last week uh come awesome group of guys uh from Germany uh 20 of them came visited the office hung out with us for a few hours brought us all kinds of cool stuff which is always fun um thanks again for all your support um yeah appreciate it we'll see

  24. 00:19:04

you next week last week you caught the first part of our interview with Foundry 42 frankfurt's Brian Chambers and now the rest of it check it out you see uh Justin chambers's brother this week still no are you stealing potatoes I need to eat you discover Star Citizen yes um so tell me what that was like absolutely so we we had we had heard about Star Citizen obviously who hasn't who's in the games industry right um I would see fans go crazy at at videos I remember being a Gamescom doing some stuff with rise and

  25. 00:19:55

seeing the booth and hearing the cheers and you're like what the hell is going on over there that's nuts right and people were so into it um when I when I decided that it was time to leave um and I started actively looking around um there were other co-workers of mine that I really liked working with socially and talking with one another we all realized that you know we're all indivi individually looking elsewhere so we thought huh what could we do to actually stay together um at that point some of the people one of the guys knew had a connection with Chris and so on we had looked online at the options um or sorry the the positions that were available and a lot

  26. 00:20:44

of them at that time which it since changed but there was probably a good percentage maybe 40% 30 40% said people could work remote right so we kind of piece that together and with kind of the one connection we had with Chris all of us kind of going huh well they said you could work remote next thing you know we all um we all applied and uh said it said where do you want to work and we all said we wanted to work in Frankfurt so literally after that things happened pretty quick I would say it was a few days later all of us got on a phone call with Chris and with um Aaron um I think ortwin might have been on that call MH um and then we had just talking it

  27. 00:21:37

through we all applied we were on the call next thing you know various times we all had gotten contracts right um now at that point we really didn't know what was going to happen um we thought that you know and it was Loosely spoken of that you know we may be able to to have enough people to have a you know a decent Siz office and so on right so we signed our contracts attached as you know a sister office of Foundry 42 in the UK um and they gave us a temp location and I think there was seven of us that started and we rolled in and we had PCS and monitors and everything shipped from

  28. 00:22:25

the UK and we had a on the IT guy from the UK come out bring everything over um so there we are on a Monday morning setting up our PCS on tables in some temp office in Frankfurt going okay what's going on where are we and we literally we sit at our desk you know okay cool let's start right um and at that point we were also we were also being very mindful that um of the situation we didn't want anyone to feel like we were taking any Bu from our previous Studio which because it wasn't the case we on purpose didn't do anything on social media all of that and we just said cool let's see what happens let's talk with friends and so on next thing you know we're seven people we're

  29. 00:23:13

12 people we're 15 um we're 20 right so at that point we had more conversations with Chris and and Aaron and them and you know it came to to feel that you know look we think we could grow this office to be a decent sized team right at that point Chris had mentioned a little bit of stuff out you know in one of his t for the chairman or something and said oh we have some guys in Frankfurt working but that was it right so it was this push and pull thing for me because knowing that I was trying to actively push to bring in people kind of we kind of had enough momentum that we knew we could kind of push it to the

  30. 00:24:00

next level so I kept bugging Aaron and Chris and I was like can you please you know say something more say hey anybody interested working in Frankfurt we have a Foundry office there you know and at that point I'd be able to put the postings online we'd share it on social media and we'd go big I kept pushing and pushing this is probably for a month and a half um but it was about every week I just kept saying it and finally Chris goes okay yeah you can do it shoot a video and I went oh man I just wanted him to get in front and be like you know hey uh you know hey frankfurt's alive this is what we're doing right so we put together a little silly video that

  31. 00:24:47

people probably saw on purpose I wanted it light I didn't want to come off as incredibly German yeah in a way hey hey be cool man um but no I I wanted to come on I mean we are the the air about ourselves now you know we're relaxed I think we're skilled in what we do and we're focused on what we do but we're laidback and relaxed so I wanted the video to come across as a bit of that so uh we put out the video we get more and more response we realize that we're exceeding capacity um we look around at different places um we originally wanted to find like an old fact Factory to move into and put like a nice had some character and put you know a nice floor in it and move in um but we couldn't find any

  32. 00:25:36

factories that you know fit our requirements for like uh you know fiber cable and so on right and it would just have been a stupid spend of money um places wanted like € 200,000 to to dig a trench and put fiber Cable in it we said that didn't make sense so we found a new building that we're in today uh took us about 3 months to build out um we moved in last July Flash Forward to today I believe we have 39 people working and four more contract signed so we are now up to 43 people um with the momentum we have and the things that we are owning um as far as the office goes um our headcount puts us mid6 60s roughly

  33. 00:26:30

um which is then in a way forcing our hand to even expand the office a little bit bigger um we thought that that could be a possibility um and we were able to when we moved into this office put it in the contract for free that we would have first ride of adjoining spaces so um things are going good team's doing good team's growing we're building momentum so we just exercised that right um um and they'll they'll start construction here probably in a few weeks um I think by the time if you make it out here that hopefully it's done by then all right so Foundry 42 Frankfurt is growing uh what are the different departments that exist in Foundry 42 what what aspects of the

  34. 00:27:17

game do you guys work on um we are touching a bunch of stuff um now one thing just to preference sometimes I will say hey we own this and we own this it doesn't mean we own it 100% we have people from all disciplines at all studios around the world here right um we are driving and owning all of the cutscenes for squadron 42 uh we have Hest here as the Director he was on set with Chris directing all of our huge cast um but we're building that up we have U senior environment artist on cinematics uh cinematic designer three senior cinematic animator um and we just recently got a producer that's helping to Wrangle all that um you recently believe spoke with Todd

  35. 00:28:07

papy um we have Todd papy here he kind of gave you that whole bit on the design side we're owning a large amount of design as well um and I think it it I can't really even pigeon it whole that it's Squadron 42 it's FPS it's pu it kind of touches everything um uh we are also owning a lot of of AI we have a Franchesco um Ruchi our lead AI engineer here um we've built up a team of two other AI Engineers with him and we're looking for another one or two um we've just started building up the small QA Department um we've had one senior QA here that's focusing on engine for a couple months we just had a transfer of Melissa Strada from Austin

  36. 00:28:56

uh she just started out here recently um and we're looking at transferring somebody from the UK uh from QA to here as well uh we are also taking the charge on weapons uh both ship weapons and FPS uh we have Toby or Tobias here um he now has uh regular weapons artists he's working with and a senior weapons artist um and we are also owning core engine Tech with two senior technical director here um and those guys were around writing the the architecture for the first version of cry engine that's out there so we feel fortunate to have them definitely involved as well so with all those disciplines there's also a

  37. 00:29:44

Sprinkle of a little bit other you know we have an effect a VFX artist here um works really closely with the UK uh we're looking at maybe bringing another VFX artist here so they would split between Squadron between catic work and focus on there versus uh what other work else work is needed right just for normal FPS weapons or ship weapons um we also have a couple environment artists here and they're mixed as well they will help between Squadron 42 they'll help in cinematics um and they'll also help uh from the engine team when they're pushing on uh procedural Tech because we're pushing some stuff in some very unique ways it means we have to pull together assets and generate assets unique ways right um so there's a lot of support there so

  38. 00:30:36

with all those makeups with all those different Departments of what we're owning that's what gets us to you know a head count of 60 you know mid 60s mid uper 60s and still growing yeah I mean it's it's some chunky stuff like I said we're we're technically we're 43 on paper I think there's 39 there might be 40 working now this week um but yeah yeah we're we're getting there and it's cool I mean you know we started with just a few guys and we've built this up by the time the the new office was built out and I could move the team in you know I felt like a like a proud poppy right it's kind of letting everybody in and everybody seeing the space and um you know Foundry 42 cig Chris Aaron everybody involved has been

  39. 00:31:28

been incredibly cool to work with incredibly opening you know open with us um incredibly supportive of what we're doing and you know we definitely feel like we're we're part of the team and that we have an impact and uh it's good gotcha well we we definitely feel that way about you guys here at the very least I can't speak for those UK guys I don't know but we we we love you um so before I let you go um just a final quick question uh when are we getting procedural generated planets tell me now tell me now just just just say the date just just do it hello did we lose connection hello jiggle jiggle thingy no we lost connection so yeah when I think it'll be

  40. 00:32:15

out yeah all right well thanks thanks that's great uh any we didn't rehearse that that was pretty good J uh any any final words you want to give to the Star Citizen Community before we let you go um I have been doing this for a while uh making stuff I feel for I feel like you know had a friend of mine that said we're glorified toy makers right and we are we're we're making cool stuff I've been doing this for a while I can honestly say without a doubt the community that is behind this game um is awesome I don't know how else to put it right uh the support we get from from people the encouragement that we get from people uh the good words the constructive words um it's awesome it's

  41. 00:33:07

awesome reading through forums I I will uh routinely on a weekly basis dig through areas on the forums just to get cool encouraging quotes that you guys put out to the forums or wherever whether it be YouTube whether it be RSI forums whether it be Reddit anything I'll grab them and blast them out to the team um because I mean it's support um we're used to I am used to let's put it to me and generally a lot of developers are locked in a building for a few years working on a game right you'll put it out occasionally for a trade show here's a trailer here's some screenshots here's this and that you usually don't get this feedback this quick and you know I feel fortunate being on this project that we

  42. 00:33:58

already have the visibility and we already have the support from the backers um it it's something that definitely pushes us and motivates us um we recently did the the bar Citizen and I I push the guys most of the guys here on the team made it out there and for the next few days the guys were like man people really dig this game this feels good right yeah um so that's it's cool it's h it's it's a unique opportunity for us to grab and we hope we're here for years and years to come and and uh we're confident where we're going and what we're going to build it's it's it's a good feeling yes it is absolutely all right Brian thanks so much for taking the time to sit down with us uh I know you've got

  43. 00:34:46

a meeting to go to we we ran about almost 40 minutes here so uh foring are you are you going to cut me into two now um probably we'll probably cut it into two pieces and whatnot so uh we'll spread you out over this week and next week awesome um thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us guys that was Brian Chambers design director from Foundry 42 UK uh and the frankurt you said 42 Frankfurt brary 42 it's really early I had to come in really early for this all right see you later guys so I was looking at the new Aurora but

  44. 00:35:37

then I was thinking maybe I should get something that looks a little classy but then I was like no I need something that can pull some serious weight maybe I don't need all that cargo space what about the legionaire now we're talking how about some bigger guns little bigger no little bigger there you go and maybe some Rockets too actually I should probably upgrade the power plant I did like the leather seats on that LX though yeah perfect all right let's see what this baby can do problem short of help

  45. 00:36:57

[Applause] maybe I do need bigger cargo rsis Aurora there are many like it but this one is yours hello I'm Sher hyberg and I'm hosting

  46. 00:37:47

this week's lore makers Guide to the Galaxy a journey with the members of the lore team to explore the stories and science behind each system in the Star Citizen universe today we're examining the Oberon system so let me just uh type it in the search box here click and voila kind of a strange system one of the reasons that I picked it it was discovered in 2356 it's unclaimed by any government not even the UE even though it's primarily human inhabitants in the system um it's located between four jump points which would seem pretty strategically valuable for some settlement however the neutron star at the center of the system makes basically

  47. 00:38:38

any attempts to live there very very difficult it makes Terror forming next to Impossible it's just not a good time for anybody however it is a very good barrier between UE and vuel space this has re recently been unfortunate for the inhabitants of uel which I'll get to in a minute so let's start with the star here um you may notice that it's extremely tiny compared to some of the other stars we have in the other systems and the reason for this is that it's a neutron star which is the smallest densest star in the known universe one with a radius of 11 kilm can have twice the mass of the Sun just like compared contained like in there like a little tiny ball um to put that into perspective the sun's

  48. 00:39:26

radius is about 600,000 km so just just think a little bit about that it's qu it's pretty amazing that's why I like neutron stars um they were formed after the collapse of a supernova they have very strong gravity they have next to no Luminosity they're very hot so you know judging from that they have next to no green zone so you would think that no one lived here but of course the first two planets are inhabited because we're humans and that's what we do so the first planet in the system is gone or is Oberon one it used to the system here used to be a binary star system and this planet is classified as a super Earth carbon Planet it used to

  49. 00:40:13

be the core of the star that once orbited in this binary system with the neutron star here but the neutron star eventually ate up the entirety of the outer layers of the star living only the core so we have this like like really dense ball of carbon which of course attracted a lot of miners because they believe that there's a big cache of diamonds in the planet crystallized carbon unfortunately for the miners who live there not much has been found so far there's a lot of graphite graphite's pretty cool you know you can make pencils um there's lots of carbon but only a couple of diamond veins have been discovered and they have not been very profitable it's kind of a sad place to live but people still believe like somewhere in the planet they're going to hit the proverbial mother load the next planet in the system is

  50. 00:41:03

uel now this is kind of a sad story um a terraforming company back when there were very few regulations on this thing decided they wanted to do an experiment and the experiment was to raise the core temperature of the planet and make it um terraformed through geothermal energy rather than the energy of the star at the center of the Galaxy I mean the uh the system Galaxy whatever um it failed it was considered a sure thing because of the propaganda advertisement that the company sent out but so when it failed we had these like shiploads of colonists who were just left abandoned with no recourse uh they moved underground which was the literal only safe thing that they could do there are societies there that aren't ruled by traditional government bodies but more

  51. 00:41:51

families very family based society um and if that weren't tragic enough they were recently victims of vandel attack after the successful incursion into Vega the vuel launched an attack on Oberon um thousands died it was really brutal for them and their already horrific and brutal existence uh but luckily for them when the vuel wanted to launch a second attack Admiral Bishop um thanks to the intelligence from operation mandre was able to repel their next incursion with the 65th battle group it was one of the first major victories we have seen against the vanuel repelling them out of the system um and right now there's a big military presence just kind of as a buffer

  52. 00:42:38

against further vuel attacks and it may serve as a way for us to push into vuel space proper and actually get them instead of them getting us all right let's move on to Oberon 3 here it is a protoplanet protoplanets are about the size of moons uh I will remind you that the star map is not to scale just keep that in mind over on four here is another protoplanet uh now protoplanets are usually misshapen kind of lumpy um they're small they're leftover bits from the protoplanetary disc that formed when the system was forming um they're like basically like little leftover pieces of planets we have a few in our system our solar

  53. 00:43:26

system we have a Sirus Palace and Vesta they hang out in the asteroid belt all right now let's move on to Oberon 5 if I can find it there it is Oberon 5 is what you would call a misop planet this is a term that was developed by Isaac azimoff to describe planets that were small um had cleared their planetary neighborhood and have had achieved the equilibrium necessary to form you a planet shape like more or less a sphere Mercury could be considered a misop planet but we still have it consider uh classified as a planet because the definition itself is a little murky right here is obron 6 this is a gas dwarf I'm very excited to talk about gas

  54. 00:44:16

dwarfs they are as far as we know thanks to the Kepler survey the most common planets in the known Galaxy and it's really interesting because we don't have any gas dwarfs in our system they're sometimes called mini Neptunes um they're about let me uh just check my notes to make sure I have this correct is they have a radius between 1.7 and 3.9 that of Earth so they're not much bigger than a super Earth and they're definitely smaller than a gas giant and they're definitely smaller than Neptune they have rocky cores gaseous atmosphere they're low density um and they're all over the place um I when we're think when we're making planetary system I always make sure to push really hard to include gas dwarfs so little Insider trivia is whenever you see a gas dwarf in a system

  55. 00:45:05

chances are I was the one who said we really need another gas dwarf they're so common we need more more gas dwarfs everybody and here we have Oberon 7 it is a classic gas giant class 4 it's msphere is of carbon monoxide so it's not exactly the most ideal place for refueling anything um it's a great place to go if you like suffocating suffocate get out of your ship good times good times so this is the Oberon system it's unclaimed it's full of miners disaffected descendants of people scammed by a terraforming company um recently home to a series of vandu attacks and now home to a strong military presence hopefully um they'll

  56. 00:45:54

stick around for long enough to ensure that the vuel don't come back but we'll see what happens as the threat continues to unfold thanks for watching everybody I hope you enjoyed this installment goodbye uh come on I S it hey there Tyler whiten here Community manager in the Austin Texas Studio here to bring you this week's MVP

  57. 00:46:42

it was a very rich week for Star Citizen Community content which made choosing only one MVP pretty difficult however a big congratulations to Selby for his Galactic transit map his easyto read map makes navigating the Galaxy even easier and I'm confident that it'll find its home on many Pilots dashboards so big congrats to you definitely check this one out guys you're this week's MVP back to you guys well that's a heck of a map thanks Tyler looking ahead it's time for ATV's fast forward 1 2
