hey everybody welcome to another edition of calling all Deb's the weekly Q&A series right take questions live from you know it's not live and when do it again it's from you the star citizen backer and pose them directly to our developers usually over Skype the last two weeks notwithstanding to get things started we are going right - calling all Deb's all-star John Crew our vehicle pipeline director out of Manchester foundry 42 UK Winslow it's one of those places John hey donut I'm good thanks how are you I just did the best injury I've ever done so Wow look forward to hearing it good all right I got two questions for you now these are questions that are submitted on spectrum they are voted on by the backers right off the bat I'm gonna hit you with a hot topic as of late what changes are currently planned for the 600 I you know after numerous

  2. 00:01:01

negative feedback from the community in terms of its slow speed ugly weapon placement the landing gear bad shields this person really doesn't like the 600 I yeah sounds like there's lots of issues so we did some shootings I'll start with the stuff that we have done four three two one so we did a bunch of power tunings we thought we'd fixed everything there with it I know there's some big problems where you did anything in atmosphere and if the whole ship just turned off that should be better but I've seen people still having that issue - slightly lesser extent so obviously we're gonna look at that the the shields and power plants did get a big buff in three two one well three two one of them because it was it was when it was originally conceived it was a medium ship so I had

  3. 00:01:49

medium sized components then during production it got larger but it still kept the medium sized things we thought yeah it should still be able to do its job you can only look at the data numbers you have so far on paper this is this is gonna work and you put it in game and it didn't quite work so that did have a bump up to some large components a good weapon placement yeah it's not not great there's a there's a long long story behind that so if someone comes and gets me a bar citizen we can talk about that and that's not an easy fix or quick tricks to do that's going to take a lot of rework so that's not nothing we're planning on doing scene it functions doesn't look great we know about it

  4. 00:02:36

interior stuff obviously lots of lots of people have been looking into it and doing suggestions we're not gonna do at this time any huge interiors like we're not going to rip up the interior into it again we we are aware that it does look quite barren it's got that sort of luxury by sort of Brutalism have nothingness yeah look going on which some people like but it's not for everyone so we're looking the feedback we're learning from that we've got some discussions going on what we're learning from that we're going to put it into the eight ninety because that's obscene production amount if you've seen the clips of it on a TV and then once we've got to the end of the eight ninety process we're gonna see what we can retro actively put back in the 600 I

  5. 00:03:25

that is just sort of like a second polish pass on it rather than a big structural change I think that was all the bits you mentioned yeah no that sounds great that's a far more than I was expecting so so I think I think owners of the six hundred I have a have something to look forward to and that's not to say the 600 I wasn't awesome the six in our eyes flippin awesome yeah there's lots of people having big pots he's on board yeah but you know one of the virtues of having our live game play environment in the middle of our development is that we have the opportunity to put these things out there and get feedback and help iterate and stuff like that so the people are grabbing my phone we've just just take my phone just take my phone all right your next question an even simpler one

  6. 00:04:16

when will missiles work well what a question we've got lots of things we want to do from like a design side obviously the gameplay with them is very click and forget about it we want to make that a more involved involving is probably not the right word but they're not just a spammy way of doing damage we want people to think about what missiles they're gonna use what the differences between the three tracking types are picking the right one for the right thing and then obviously the receiving end of dealing with that incoming threat that's where we want to go that's that doesn't have a timeline associated with it that's its missiles have moved from the LA studio to Frankfurt on the weapons team so they were responsible

  7. 00:05:05

for doing all the compression from weapon 1.0 to web 2.0 missiles in the list to be done next along with the few bits that didn't make it as to what's wrong with them at the moment they use a very sort of simplified dialed down version of ifcs called M GCS missile guidance control system so if you think of all the little quirks that we have with IFC s at the moment and tracking on something that's very small moving three to four times the speed you're going after something else that's moving it all just sort of amplifies if you have that null point one percent error on a ship so it gets wild on on a missile so we're aware of issues with their

  8. 00:05:53

movement they're tracking that really frustrating bug of whether they just hit stuff and bounce off and do like a spiral around it we seem to fix that every other week internally and then something else like so many things in the chain can you break that it can be ship specific it can be shield specific missile specific to be networking it could be removing heads the planets break it so if you're in the planetary zone they go to it and then just go off somewhere we've had it where it has actually been doing it but the UI just carries on as though it was never there so the it's so far away the missile explosion effect happens you don't see it all you see is the UI just carry on for kilometres and distance so you think you've missed but you've actually hit

  9. 00:06:42

yeah there's we know there's problems looking at ways to fix it don't have a time for that yeah III know talking with Todd there are some fixes that we're gonna try to get in four three three yeah but not the whole rigmarole yeah we're gonna hit the big offenders like not being able to lock multiple targets frequently is a big problem especially on things like the retaliator anything torpedo base where you stuck with one that's that's a lot of your gameplay gone and the just the reliability of hitting and exploding stuff well that's it that's all I got for you cool thanks so much and I will I'll see you at a bar citizen in Frankfort maybe no me alone alone

  10. 00:07:32

yeah maybe place maybe oh hi one day but maybe there'll be some details about that soon ish maybe we can have some English breakfast together I'll let you go alright see ya but alright thank you so much John crew now we were moving on to another calling all that was all start we haven't had him on the show in a while and excited to go back to rob reiner ger out of Austin Texas Rob how you doing man hey what's up Jared how are you man yeah you know it's another day in paradise and I fell into my trap all right forget it whatever all right I got two more questions for you we just had two hard-hitting ones for for John crew I got a cut two that are a little easier for you than the ones he had but

  11. 00:08:21

far more interesting as far as what means for the persistent universe I am i doing judging the questions they're all good every young every question you guys send it are good yeah you got some good ones for me so all right your first question for future quantum travel improvements will we be able to filter what kinds of points show up on our HUDs with the tap of a button like they just show me all the outposts or just show me all the space stations or just show me all the planets and moons stuff like that because as Stan expands and expands our quantum travel locations are going to get messy yeah it's gonna get quite extensive and and CR really wants to have you know

  12. 00:09:09

different iconography for for the different types of locations that we have which is something that we're working on right now but as we get more and more of these icons more of our different types of locations and we absolutely want to have a filter it'll probably start in the mobi glass so in in the star map you'll just you know click click like I want to see these things I could see that expanding you know as we get the multi-crew stuff up and running you'll probably see like dedicated seats you know to have a little more control over you know some of the other other seats erm or combined in a small ship you know we haven't really explored that as much to date but that's that's definitely in the plan so you have to be able to filter this large universe that you're gonna be able to

  13. 00:09:57

travel through so yeah that's that's gonna be a huge element not not just for travel but for economy reasons and show me places that have fuel or he'll show me places that have you know trade or this or that like it's it's gonna be more than just the types of locations all right pretty good your next question when can we expect dialogue-driven items item purchases like buying drinks in a bar from a bartender guns from an armor like we saw in the the squadron 42 vertical slice or other over the counter purchases in the P yeah so we're we're currently focused on the bartender experience or the the bar experience is what we're calling it and the item purchases are getting to start with the purchase of beer and and you

  14. 00:10:45

know simple things like that I always the most the most required you know purchases right the most important ones but it's we're doing a lot of experimentation because how big the the menu is is gonna have a direct impact on you know whether or not we can do it through inner thought or through do we need to bring some sort of you know diegetic UI that comes up like a menu like futuristic menu or something so we're also doing a lot of experimentation with you know just trying to trying to get the bar scene to feel busy like you would walk into a bar and you know how do you how do you get a really busy bartender to look and feel right you know so there's a lot of experimentation going on there but a way in the future

  15. 00:11:32

you know when we get towards you know black market deals like we don't want to have like just storefronts that are black market shops right like we want that the whole back-alley transaction to be part of that black market experience right so you you're gonna have to go and find the underground vendors and and do those you know back-alley deals and and we want that to be through you know player2 MPC or MPC to MPC you can't type of transactions so that's a very important part of the future of the transaction system and it's something that I'm I'd love to see sooner than later but it's gonna start simple in some of the shops and then work itself out into the mission system the the rest of the world black market and so on I

  16. 00:12:20

got a pitch for you it's a guy in a back alley of arccorp with a little ice chest full of kidneys sweet looks just like Jeremiah Lee I'm not even going to ask where you're getting that from or what that might be in reference to but it led you there I bet you there's a long story there's someone if you haven't if you haven't if you ever like if you have if you haven't heard about me you must have voted threaten spectrum history that's that good you can focus on work best yeah I missed that one now Jeremiah's been trying to troll me for the last couple weeks and it's never sounds like it's working no no no no yeah he it's not but well he's to be trying me

  17. 00:13:08

alright Rob I'll let you go man thank you sir yeah well that about wraps up this week's show special thanks to John crew and Rob Ryan eager for taking their time to be here on the show with us now remember you can submit your questions for consideration each and every week up on spectrum and don't forget the vote that's the two-prong plan you gotta submit your questions and then you got a vote on the questions that's how we know which questions you want to see answered most and then I do this run around crazy dance trying to find the right developer and the right answer and merge them together and schedules and winner so for calling all debts I'm Content Manager for global video production Jared Huckaby we'll see you next week everybody [Music] thanks for watching for the latest and
