  2. 00:00:56

which is a little bit of a tidbit of the World At Large regarding into space we have an interview with Sergio Rosas at cbot you'll recognize cbot because they're the ones who've done quite a bit of the artwork in the game everything from spaceships to to pieces that you build the floor out of just everything they're very very talented artists in Moder Mexico and we'll interview Sergio who owns that company coming up later so what happened in the weekend review well Rob myself and Travis went to Denver why did we go to Denver well there's a little cry engine team out there we like a lot and we wanted to check out and see if they might want to work together with us on Star Citizen look for a little announcement on that in the future we're going to put them to the test and if they do some good work H which we expect they will they'll be working alongside with us Benjamin lisnic burned his hand Benjamin was using a waffle iron and

  3. 00:01:46

decided that his hand looked a little bit like the waffle stuffing now his hand really looks like a waffle he's okay though can't do without Ben Chris is in the mix leading the dog fighting charge we've got a lot to do on the dog fighting module as you know coming up and uh Chris is out there leading the stand up and making sure that we're going to be getting everything in there uh to make that experience for you guys as good as possible always good to see the man planting the banner we had1 million this week oh my gosh you guys are stinking amazing we uh we put the post out there we explained a little bit about the costs of running the business and what what happens and how it's expected and you guys you knocked it out of the park you got it you understood

  4. 00:02:34

you're there this is just another kick in the to the Publishers who think that people out there don't understand you do get it we know you get it we're happy that that's the process thank you very much for for allowing us to get to 19 million now let's keep going let's put this crowdfunding thing so far away that the next person's going to go oh we'll never do that ha yes you will we have new hires we have Tom Davies and Chad zamza two new programmers one in Santa Monica one here in Austin I know can you believe it one in Austin we are we don't have room LA's filling up fast too it's a crazy mad house but we we need these people to put this this quality product out there for all you guys to play with uh we have a hangar flare poll coming up what's that mean well we said it earlier we want to get your feedback on what you want to see in the hanger so either

  5. 00:03:22

that's coming up today or the next few days we got a list of things we would we think we can get in the hanger and when we can do that and we want to hear what what you guys want see in there so that we can get right busy making that stuff for you um caterpillar well the caterpillar is a really cool ship hasn't been on sale in a while H wouldn't it be interesting if it went on sale like today yes it would just say it we have it all let's get right to it the office it has been an absolute pistol trying to find a new office for our location uh we have 36 37 people here and 2800 square feet it's it's pretty cramped it's like a a Malaysian sewing Factory or something of that nature um so we finally have got to a point where we have gone to paper we are

  6. 00:04:10

literally at paper um check this out by the way there's a thread from Wolf on the forums which is really funny he seems to think we're going to be in the Ghostbusters Firehouse wolf what that's a great picture by the way of Mark myself and Rob I ain't afraid of no ghosts but let's just take a look at where the office really is hey everybody guess what an exclusive first look at where we think our offices are going to be that's right we're bringing you live to where it's going to be we hope we're going to paper right now fingers crossed that this all goes through it's a really cool space and by the way there's a massive balcony right up there and that's also part of it so you saw the deck from down below here it is from up top take a look around

  7. 00:05:01

this would be a great place to host some citizens don't you think so how about that huh very very cool space lots of amenities I I wonder H who's going to be the first of you out there to discover the location I believe citizens will be able to find it fairly quickly let's see shall we oh now it's time wingman's weight huh you know where we started this process 236 pounds that's where we were last week we had made it down to 216 yes no that was actually bad I was up a pound where are we this week guess what yes I'm back down to 215 I am on the way again I've got to get to it a little bit of exercise this week started

  8. 00:05:48

walking the dogs in the morning it seems to be helping out I want to get below 200 a lot of you out there are doing this with me let's keep it up let's keep it together we'll hold each other accountable we're in this together set us o also I want to announce Sandy has come up with a really really cool event the first ever Star Citizen photo contest good job Sandy let's take a look at what that means there are five different categories and ways you can win the first is most star citizens how many Star Citizen fans can you fit into a single shot the team with the most citizens wearing their official RSI shirts will win 10,000 ueec each there's also most creative single player exploring the Galaxy on your own this category is for you the most creative picture featuring a single Star Citizen will receive an aurora LX spacecraft and 10,000 ueec category three no shirt no

  9. 00:06:39

problem if you didn't sign up in time to pick up an official shirt you can still enter by making your own Star Citizen outfit the winner receives an aurora LX spacecraft and 10,000 ueec category 4 where's Waldo in space wear your Star Citizen or Squadron 42 shirt in front of a famous monument landmark or other identifiable place the best picture will win an aurora LX spacecraft and 10,000 ueec and finally Best in Show our single favorite image chosen by the man himself Chris Roberts who will win an incredibly rare vuel fighter remember make sure you put everybody's name and call sign in the pictures that are submitted so that they can all participate and now it's time for feedback feedback feed feedback feedb there's that voice again hey Rob

  10. 00:07:27

how you doing I'm doing well and guess what what we got a package we did not get aack we got a package we got a package look it even says two wingman and Rob from Doc from Doc 17504 what do you think doc sent us I don't know let's uh it's not ticking it says redacted on the side say it says what happens in chat roll stays in chat roll that's awesome so Doc is obviously a chat Rolan let's he must have seen our event the uh other Friday yeah we just get on you that and that's one thing we need to talk about a little bit is sometimes we get on and do little live streaming for the people that hang in chat roll cuz chat roll is kind of a fun friendly place for us to hang out talk to Star Citizen on a weekly basis or a daily basis it's that's not really like Forum related where you put something up and then people all respond it's just sort of an immediate thing it's casual is this the first time you've opened a

  11. 00:08:15

package it is the first time oh no this isn't going to work we need more knife why don't we uh well we got more knife we can just go down the edges here and see it looks like this just pulls up like a like a box cuzz you know this is you got to be smart than the box and I am not smarter than the box I'm glad you can design games cuz you know I don't think you have a career at UPS do not have a UPS or FedEx career ahead of no and oh here we go I think we're ready so should we get a little drum roll done see what we got oh pil and what's it say wow this is [Laughter] well yeah absolutely it says it says could you get this and you got to see this it's a pack of underwear and it says only open in case of

  12. 00:09:04

shart I guess it's shart week doc says only use in case of SRA emergency this is amazing only open in case of ass chair emergency and some Glade and some some Glade apparently what were we being odiferous or something what's going on and we got some more Glade and Ai and a mini Glade well doc uh that is awesome it's it's no monkey in a suit but it's stinking funny thank goodness for that it's stinking funny this week on short week that is what we were talking about that is H crazy okay here here's a letter says says from the desk it says Dear wingman Rob and cig it isn't booze food cigars or anything like that but I hope these small gifts make life

  13. 00:09:52

infinitely better for you all there here's to a better smelling shartree ass chairless cig thanks Doc we agree with all the above don't you that is fantastic that is awesome and we did that live so uh you get us being hysterical that that was hilarious I had no expectation I had no idea I thought it was like booze or something it felt like booze then it's it's actually funnier it's it's hilarious well should we get right to the questions let's get to some questions all right right from Braille he says is it possible as a lawful citizen to travel in the uee control sector with a skull and crossbone skin on my Cutlass or does the uee try to stop me because of that hm well you know what today we're actually shooting this a day before so you know what today is in America I canot guess it is Talk Like a Pirate Day are Rob so can you have can you be

  14. 00:10:41

sporting can you be sporting the skull and crossbones as you go to UE space I can't do that oh come on SpongeBob where's me favorite dollar so can you I mean a skin is not going to cause you to be stopped no no they're not going to just look at you and go oh he must be a pirate cuz he's go crossbones people out there are probably worried that we're going to do the whole rest of the forign feedback in the pirate voice I sure hope not and they're right no we're not we're gonna we'll do one more question with a pirate please just one more from William George there appears to be confusion between hardpoint classes and weapon sizes both of which are numeric and effect that weapons can mount on what ships are you planning to adjust these systems to make the mount setups easier to understand I'm actually not sure that pirates would talk like that with that that eloquent

  15. 00:11:29

language that William George had so perhaps you should answer that question I'm not sure I can understand what you're saying all right okay you know what he means all right I wanton I probably know more of that I guess okay so hardpoint classes one two three four are basically just tell what the the weapon can do on that hard point so for instance a one is just fixed forward a two can move side to side or up and down and sometimes in every direction um threes are missiles so they're different no other weapons can go on those and then fours are turrets and you can slap smaller guns into turrets so that's all the classes are for the sizes are what really matter because each each hardpoint on a ship has a size a maximum size and a minimum size for what weapons can fit on it all right man I hope that clears it up yeah that was pretty good shiver me timbers there Rob from Zur he says will Parts on ships have durability

  16. 00:12:18

or rather can ship parts break down on their own without proper maintenance well that's a that's a pretty good question absolutely there will be wear and tear that's going to be normal behavior so yes you need to take care of your ship if if you don't take a your car it falls apart too that's exactly right and and that makes perfect sense so from from Big Damn Heroes how' you how' you like your visit to our great wet state of Colorado was it successful well it wasn't raining no it wasn't but you know I think some people have heard about this you had a bit of an episode in Colorado a Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Austin um so we were on the plane pulling back from the gate and I suddenly went into Taki cardia so um and that's like your heart it speeds up really fast my heart was racing very very very fast so um they pulled me off the plane we pulled back up to the gate

  17. 00:13:05

I got off uh took me to the hospital just to check me out it was just a precaution everything's fine they said I look fabulous um they did not say it looks fabulous okay they didn't really say that I got to pick my doctor she's really cute oh maybe she looked fabulous maybe it turns out that the pilot of the plane is one of our citizens get out of here what dead serious got an email asking if I was okay so he recognized you being taken off who I was that's pretty amazing so citizens are everywhere and but you're okay that's the important thing I am okay and I want to say a personal thank you to everyone at United and at the airport for all of their help it was I felt taken care of I was I was scared but I I really felt like I was in good hands and here's what the pilot said he goes I was the pilot we got boarded up ready to go and we had to call the paramedics for him I knew it was Rob Irving from Star Citizen and I

  18. 00:13:54

just want to make sure he's okay and if I can send anything that that that's amazing the reach of this game humbling it is humbling and I'm glad you're okay personally too because forign feedback would outside of Chris you are uh absolutely necessary to form feedback well plus who would open the underwear with I don't know how to answer that keep those away from me timbers from Diablo HDO what are some of the perks of being a salvage mechanic and what are some of the limitations of not being one well I mean don't think of it as a Class A character class do that so if you want to do some salvaging you can you don't it's not a job on or off thing it's when you feel like doing some salvaging where you happen to have an opportunity maybe even salvaging something that's not quite ready for salvaging yet um that's interesting it

  19. 00:14:42

happens but yeah you'll be able to find interesting things you might be able to pick up weapons for cheaper because hey they're free um or you might even find some unusual items we still have a lot of work to do on the full design of that but I'm sure there'll be lots of interesting things to find it's just how much you want to explore and it seemed like that it was pretty well received I think people really like that idea and and um and and I can't wait that's kind of what I'll actually be looking forward to be playing myself personally too I think that the solo players are you know it should never think they're less important than no doubt about it from Nightwolf will there be public transportation in Star Citizen AI controlled or even passenger designed ships to transport large number of players across the Galaxy absolutely so space bus space bus so definitely space limo so why would you need so why would you ever need to to have that well let's say you left one of your ships in your

  20. 00:15:30

hanger way over on Tera and then you got on a buddy's ship and flew to Earth for and you're like I need to get back to my ship and your buddy's not on to take you back so catch a taxi that's kind of cool all right well there you go that's that's a question from Kelvin has anything been said as to whether our characters will actually be able to walk it is so uncool running all of the time he should be running all the time yeah true enough but are we going to let him walk yeah we're working on that I actually think there's a ticket open for that already and we're trying to slow him down a little bit he's a little too jazzed up he is now that ticket means ticket means um we use jira which is a process which allows people we ticket things anybody can assign anybody a ticket or a task and you can watch it or people can assign Watchers it's it's a pretty efficient way of tracking all the all the the elements we need to do to

  21. 00:16:18

make this game yep uh oh this is from tessi and he sent in a video but it was so fast we had to just freeze the one frame if I discover a new Jump point will I'll be able to send the coordinates to all of my ships as soon as I'm back at the hanger no matter where they are not no matter where they are if they're not in the hanger with you remember communication is not instantaneous so you'll have to allow for communication but if he's flying his ship once he has the information so he can take it you know it'll be like in his little uh log or Bible in his little his little I'm not sure why you'd want to send it to all the ships anyway because you personally would know it and you're the pilot yeah but it's a a navigation computer thing to get jump absolutely but you can enter that in your navu just assume that's in right it'll be in your M Glass there you go in your M exactly oh now this guy is sent in lots of questions and very excited

  22. 00:17:05

he's got a really really cool setup with uh uh man I just can't describe it tons of monitors tons of hookups different things it's Jazz zero and he's he's been on me a little bit about getting a question here so Jazz this one's for you pal if I fail to pay my hanger fees can I be locked out of my ships or evicted into space yeah oh yeah if if you if you're broke maybe they'll put a boot on your ship that would be kind of ship boots but but what happens is if you are completely out of money for some reason which I don't think will ever happen our players they're fabulous people I agree so what will happen is you can either go get a loan and pay it back with by flying missions or you could even go pick up missions on other people's ships to make a little little scratch so you get out there go there you go but you're not going to be evicted into space no no we're not going to leave you floating in space that would be rude right right

  23. 00:17:53

right right okay cool from shade will there be decoys like the crybaby employed by the serenity you know for those times you were salvaging things it might not necessarily have needed salvaging see there you go exactly not not quite ready for Salvage but hey we'll do it anyway and the crybaby from our favorite one of our favorite shows Firefly absolutely that is a very cool thing well we will have decoys of some sort there will be all kinds of countermeasures there you go from Buster while I'm well aware The Hanger is still in zygote Alpha phase will we get more options for weapons and ship gear in the voyage or direct store soon yes yes you will we're working on it right now right and you know we're going to be polling again the flare items at least to find out what what people want to see and we're working on that we're coling the list where what we don't want to do is give you a list it's like something that's six months away because everybody's like where the heck is that

  24. 00:18:40

and we're like you know just a little bit away so we want to see what we have on the schedule or what we think we can get done and then we want to give it to you and let you tell us what you want to see and we'll go from there right from oh a subscriber Ray chive can anyone tell me if there are going to be female Pilots if you're a female yourself the M downloaded Hangar and was hoping for a female player well I guess they all on the website just this week right we just had we just showed our first female player so yeah and absolutely that's we got to identify shive as a subscriber and that's a very important thing and so we've decided to feature a few subscriber questions each week and identify you so from another subscriber DMO have you guys ever given any thoughts to game mechanics that may suit casual players who may only have an hour or two most days of course yeah I mean

  25. 00:19:28

that's that's a big thing that Chris has talked about is making you know some people have 88 90 hours week to play and other people don't and he wants to make it to where you can still compete with those people absolutely and we've done things like the mechanic for saving in space for people who want to be explorers but don't have much time so you know we're thinking about those people all the time it's very important I mean not everybody has can live in the universe although you know we hope you do the more the better from Viper also a subscriber I noticed in the cutless art the thrust seems be coming from the outboard thrusters now my question is the tech says one T4 Thruster is it one Thruster dividing its thrust through two nozzles or is the tech readout wrong the tech readout is correct it has one TR4 Center Line Thruster um if you notice the poster in the Voyager direct store

  26. 00:20:16

it actually has the thrust coming from the middle of it um so I'm not sure what art you might have seen that that showed it using those the pods on the sides but the Thruster is in in the center of the ship um it's it sort of seems to be their thing mhm and that company happens to have two ships the cutless Drake makes the cutless and the caterpillar and they both have little extra pods that look like hey those could be engines and I think they're decoys detected maybe not okay from lwin this is an interesting video by the way we decided to have a little bit of fun with this because we couldn't use it for copyright reasons on the music so lwin questions good apologize in advance for what you're about to see this is leviathan 39 coming in for

  27. 00:21:04

landing permission to land for Leviathan 39 39 clear the land Ang Bay 42 I 42 it is hi lwin how goes business oh business is fine it's not bad so I see you need some information I could use some information about trade missions oh really so what you got well how will I earn money with trade missions here are a couple of long- winded examples which we're not going to read so uh perhaps my examples aren't your vision so can you explain it please you know I can't but I know someone who again wow that was I'm sorry that was Oscar worthy right there Oscar worthy yeah if one of our names was

  28. 00:21:53

Oscar so but the question is still really good and and and the effort on the video was fantastic just we can't use copyrighted music that YouTube Just snaps so be careful fans that's right so but the question's still valid so what do you think yeah um actually both of the examples he gave were very good you can either get hired by somebody who's paying for the cargo and just pays you for the service of carrying it or you can pick up the cargo yourself and pay for it at which point you're responsible for the insurance and take it somewhere and sell it to people so either way either contract would be valid okay cool well that's very very good and you know now it's time for our own one-handed one waffled Ben Lesnik with this week's most valuable [Music] post hey everyone welcome to MVP most

  29. 00:22:43

valuable post I'm Community manager Ben Lesnik and I'm here to award 5,000 ueec and a special badge to the person who had the very best post this week at the RSI forums this week the honor goes to Zur for his post of creating a new star map for Star decision what he's done is taken all the information we've released so far and put it together in a logical fashion to try to figure out what our universe is going to look like uh and I'm Rob Irving would not let me say how close he is but it it looks a lot like the map we've got on the wall here uh I'd also on personal note like to thank you all for the support this week I was out for a couple days I I was uh I burned my hand uh stoves one Ben zero and uh just now pting to support all other the forums uh you guys are a great Community you're a bunch of really good

  30. 00:23:30

eggs uh so thank you for actually we have one more thing for you LW wrote this poem for you he stood alone surveyed the land with a Keen Eye and Hammer in his hand no post unchecked no transgression let go all trolls alike would feel its Mighty blow with power and skill that even Thor could not command Ben waited through the forums with hammer in his hand okay redacted been enacted removed Without a Trace back to you Eric thanks a lot Ben and I'm actually glad you're feeling better uh sorry for a little joke at your expense and now it's time for wide world

  31. 00:24:23

news as more private Enterprise companies race to space amateurs are getting in on the action last week a team of students studying at the Harrington College of design in Chicago Illinois set out to take a very special photo w

  32. 00:25:17

[Applause] oh learn more about this do-it-yourself project at chairman Dirk Fletcher's blog right here and now it's time for a look

  33. 00:26:08

back in time at this week in space September 22nd 2001 and NASA's deep space one space probe is about to perform a spectacular feat the close flyby of the deep space Comet 19p belli but photographing a space Rock isn't the only success of deep space one this half ton spacecraft's primary mission is testing new technologies that will serve future space missions including an autonav system that tracks the Craft's location from passing asteroids a remote agent robot doctor capable of repairing inflight failures and an experimental ion thrust engine capable of traveling 2 billion miles with half the fuel of conventional rocket engines after almost 3 years thrusting through the solar

  34. 00:26:57

system deep space one is on its Final Approach to berelli a snapshot that's one in a billion and deep space one rifles past berelli and deeper into space deep space one expanding the frontiers of Science in space and now our very own Mark skeleton with this week's hazy thought so why do they put Braille dots on the keypad of a drive up ATM

  35. 00:27:56

H I kind of think think Mark's having a good time there he sure is so look who's here guys Sergio Rosas from cbot bud how you doing man doing good welcome so Sergio you're working on our game why don't you tell people a little bit about what cbot is cbot is an art Outsourcing company uh we do video game art for all sorts of different video games and currently we're working on yalls very excited to be doing so yeah and you're doing a lot of stuff so what exactly what kind of art are you doing I mean there's all kinds of things from prop making to ships what are you guys doing uh for you guys were're doing a lot of ships uh a little bit of characters um a little bit of 2D stuff a little bit of map uh Universe maps or whatever um just kind of a little bit of everything but mostly uh the spaceships so you guys have been involved since the beginning too I mean um when Chris was

  36. 00:28:44

working on his demo you know onean gang right you guys were actually helping him and so you did the Bingle carrier that's right and you did the Hornet The Hornet wow so what else I mean what other the kind of ships with these would the fans out there recognize much I think we did most of the modeling on the first trailer we did uh couple of the characters I me right right right did you do the vanuel fighter we did okay so you guys have seen a lot of the artwork that they're doing and they're doing an amazing job for us and this was the first time you guys have done anything in the cry engine right uh yes that was that was the first time we did cry engine we did lots of unreal stuff before lots of next gen stuff all over but crry engine was the first time uh to work with it this extensively so how did you get involved with Chris Roberts how did you first start working former when did you first start working with Chris so I started working with

  37. 00:29:33

Chris you mean way way back we're all oldtimers here go way back experienced so I started working with Chris at digital Anvil digital Anvil you back in the day I used to work at origin systems where Chris was on a different team and then he went away to start a new company and then maybe like a year later I started doing contract work for him and then became art director on Conquest for frer Wars well Conquest Frontier Wars that's interesting did you did you have any interesting office mates yes yes you you were very interesting what we shared it was a tiny office it was a tiny office we sh and uh we're very used to yeah we were sitting a lot like this it was our was really cool it was really fun it was right there on Congress and and we had I don't remember you remember uh I think we

  38. 00:30:20

talked about this the other night do you remember danan was our producer at Microsoft he needed he he needed a place to stay so we took like this tiny like this tiny little triangle table and stuck him in the corner where just had a monitor and a keyboard and that's all he could get on there and he would come down and he'd be hunched over in the corner you know that was hilarious and you know one of the benefits of what we're doing here is is working without a publisher M right and so I wanted I wanted to kind of relay the message um do you remember in Conquest we were doing when do you remember the Uproar we got when we put new um what was it new debris yeah so we were we were geeking out and making everything like tweaking it out and making it just perfect and every you know we we'd get a new thing like oh we're going to we're going to have

  39. 00:31:07

different debris types debris types so it was literally different types of debris so You' know which race was in if you came into a system and you'd see debris laying around you'd know which races were fighting it made total sense it made total sense and it was super easy to put in but but Microsoft was not happy when that showed up in the build that no they weren't they were not no and they were like we have to retest all this and we're like it's a simple art switch we just turned it on and but see that's the benefit of what we're doing here and how that story relates to what we're doing here is that we can put that in for your benefit and the game gets better and we don't have to worry about um bureaucracy yeah let's say we are geeking out on all the details absolutely and that makes the game better it makes for a better experience and that's how the the better companies make games they get to make those creative decisions and it's not

  40. 00:31:54

necessarily made by a group of testers over there because it's going to have to go through test again because our testers are you know are right there so um you married someone from the games industry I sure did I married Rita uh wagon shine was her name back then her name is Rita Rosas now and where did you meet her I met her um I met her at the office she was Chris Robert's personal assistant at the time that's right and I was the art director on conquest at the time so Rita would kind of walk in and out and and she's now you're now her personal assistant yeah cuz that's what that's what husbands yes that's what we husbands do so I I upgraded there or she upgraded uh no I think I think definitely uh you updated just just saying so you guys are working on on how many people at CG bot are are working on

  41. 00:32:42
