[Music] hello and welcome to 10 for the chairman writers Edition writers Edition as you may notice there is no chairman here this time not this time no we're going to be answering some questions from you the subscribers uh subscribers of course are the ones who are kicking in an extra uh amount every month to help us fund additional content like this uh some of our behind the scenes inside cig Studio pieces and stuff like that uh jump Point yada y y so more info for you guys in the community all right so we get into these questions for us the writers all right first question starting off comes from we're gonna I

  2. 00:00:50

apologize I I don't know how to pronounce this I'm gonna give a shot I'm gonna go Ron Soul strer I'm going to say Allon Soul stter defin of those twoo with the vast and detailed universe that you are building what place or thing are you most excited to see in the game well right now it's really just anything just anything in the game would be wonderful to see so much stuff like we just showed the persistent Universe for the first time in the FPS and all the modules are coming together right now so we're on the cusp of all this content just exploding in so that's pretty exciting yeah I don't know I I'm I'm I'm going to go with what most of the the people in the Asad Dev and the community are looking for I want to see tar that's my big that's my big thing I want to see tar that's pretty good like

  3. 00:01:39

exploring the universe what do I want to see I think I kind of have a place in my heart that I really want to go visit spider oh I think that'll be a really cool setting and if it if it ends up anywhere near as cool as I have in my head I think that would be really awesome location yeah that was going to be that going to be fun all right all right next question from x3r x3s and I'm going to say it as xeres yeah good call when writing about the alien races how do you get yourself into their heads how do you put yourself in their position and write from their point of view I imagine it is quite different to how you write for a human character as you have to take an entirely different history and culture of species into

  4. 00:02:28

account that is a good question that that is a good question uh give yourself plus one points yeah good job um I I mean I think at the end of the day you're still talking about a person whether they're Shion or human this is a person who has once has needs has things that they're trying to achieve things they don't like stuff like that you know I think uh you know in any given day most human beings wouldn't take into account history and and culture but that colors how they how they interact and how they do stuff so it's I don't think it necessarily dictates their behavior but it just it's sort of skews how they might react to certain circumstances but I don't know I always try to keep the character and what they want as sort of the focus who is this specific being I

  5. 00:03:17

mean that that can be a thing that you get hung up on as you think in your head oh band new act this way and then you end up writing stereotypes instead of characters which even with our alien races I think we're trying to avoid that yeah we want to feel them to feel complex and interesting and you know as as Dynamic and intelligent and exciting and complicated as humanity is you want to give that sort of aspect to the to the aliens as well but trying to like reverse the thought and think about how weird humans might seem and what are the weird things that humans do to kind of get that kind of frame of reference have you ever like been walking along and just look at all the people driving like around in cars and wearing clothes and

  6. 00:04:04

thinking like if this was animals doing it it' be like the strangest thing you'd ever seen right right so something like that is that weird I feel like Mark skeleton all of a sudden um next question all right next question from meloc what is your I'm gonna say Mel Mel okay fair enough what is your biggest fear related to when citizens get a hold of a large portion of the lore such as with the galopa and start dissecting everything you've written that already happens doesn't it I I I think everything we do right gets dissected PR much dissected as is but uh uh I mean there is that kind of hope that everything we've written and we try really hard is consistent yeah uh internally has a logic that flows from piece to piece and I'm sure once the

  7. 00:04:52

galactic p i mean every day we realize that we've written ourselves into a corner or we have a tight spot to kind of go at or something really wish we could do if this one little piece of information we threw out casually had been different right and then we have to sit and think like all right is there a way we can do this without changing that story or it's that it's that weird fine line that we're sort of running into where it's like we you know we're embracing the fact that we're in open development so thing this is the time for things to change but at the same time you know we want to avoid retconning stuff because you know you guys are getting used to this universe and this world and stuff like that and having to kind of go back and go oh wait is that planet still exist or they said it doesn't exist or you know whatever we're trying to minimize that to make it as painless as possible yeah there's so

  8. 00:05:39

much to wrap your head around already without changing things on you Midstream and even though we're in development we're trying to what's your just your biggest fear in general just in life like spiders uh the ocean oh that's a good one that's where that's where cthulu lives uh all right next question moving on uh we are on oh shark CER sharer I have no alternate pronunciation of that will player driven events like operation Pitchfork affect the lore and eventually become part of the history of Star Citizen um uh yes I mean player driven events have been sort of a day one thing that Chris has always kind of talked about you know he once the you know when the game goes live

  9. 00:06:28

there's sort of two things that are sort of propelling the history of the uee forward and part of it is us and part of it is the Players so uh yes you know whether it's something is you know discovering jump points finding new systems being the one who takes out dread pirate Roberts whatever you know I mean the players are going to become part of the history and that's sort of you know whoever discovers the Artemis yada yada Y and and hopefully you know the overall story that's the ongoing story will shift and change based on how players are kind of interacting with the world yeah and be reactive to them you know adjusting adjusting plans based on what players seem to be gravitating towards or away from or stuff like that

  10. 00:07:15

it'll be exciting to work out just how fast we can kind of iterate on what's going on in the world and kind of react and make it a conversation between us the developers and you the player so from Dutch I'm gonna say douch douch when did RSI introduce the Bengal carrier from the lore we know that RSI has been around since the 22nd century but during The Messer era AIS was the main supplier of military vessels like the Idris and the javelin was the Bengal released after this period or is it a venerable old warhorse like the Gladius I actually checked with B on this one uh I seem to recall it was I couldn't get an exact date but I seem to rec call it was fairly recent like within 20 25 years uh is what I remember about that's for an exact date I do not have uh the exact date is

  11. 00:08:03

this right here 2bd uh all right uh uh Dr nefario I go Dr nefario do the devs that are building the Pu consult with you regarding lore routinely I found so many interesting things in the lore that I'm afraid that it will be fiction rather than fact as I travel through the systems I've read about yes yeah I mean every single piece of lore that we post not pretty much like 95% is looked at by the design team in some aspect to make sure that what we're writing match is what you'll be able to do uh we don't want to be spinning tails and selling you know stuff that writing

  12. 00:08:51

checks that we can't cash basically it's been we realized very early on that that there was a a an instant connection between what we released as lore and uh what you guys thought would be in the game so we started to really tailor it to make sure that at any given time you know what we're releasing is at least in in line with the spirit and the idea of what It ultimately would like to be in the game you know obviously the mechanics will shift and refine and stuff like that but um but yeah you know I mean the idea is that we're trying to emulate hopefully what the experience will be like so some of the places that you see you read about will be places that you can visit the characters that you read about will be characters that you can interact with and that sort of thing Cypher Cipher Calder uh cifer

  13. 00:09:42

Calder maybe rezy you want to change yours no I like mine uh the Church of the journey is a very interesting concept to me I'm curious though if there are SL will be any parallels between it and the Pilgrims from Wing Commander I not sure possibly I mean you know if I recall correctly the pilgrims were able to uh they had sort of powers if I remember correctly they were like the first Interstellar settlers and they had like their Hopper drives and whatever and um yeah I don't think it was but they had like a skill they were really Adept at flying in hyp in light speed or something I don't recall uh no probably

  14. 00:10:31

not then uh a a most of the stories so far seem to be focused on the Daring Do and heinous acts of heroes and villains do you have any plans to release Tales of starcross lovers oo getting around Valentine's Day um uh sure I mean you know it's the a lot of the adventure stuff is you know it's kind of why pulp was so popular it's very you know easy and fun and you know gets a lot of people excited I mean I think you know we want to ultimately want to have all sorts of stories that that take place in this universe and not all of them are going to be you know Daring Do and or heinous a but yeah I think there's definitely room for romantic stories to be told in

  15. 00:11:20

Star Citizen especially now that we have 890 jumps out there with that hot tub so the constellation the Phoenix uh oh crap I totally screwed that up it's not the 890 the 890 doesn't have a hot tub it probably does but yeah was like the Phoenix oh that's not well let me do that again okay take two uh yeah I think there probably is plenty of room for like a romantic story to be told in staris and hopefully with something that coming up especially now that people can fly around in the Phoenix and have that hot tub that's just made for romance um true enough next question from cogniter Co cogniter okay will the in-game events be unfolding in real time

  16. 00:12:08

for example if there's a war that spans 3 months in the lore will the players be able to experience it for 3 months of real time no I seem to recall that there was some discussion about uh the time game time is condensed I think I don't know if they they never really locked down what the number is going to be what the actual number is going to be but there was talk that it was going to be condensed a bit just to facilitate some stuff uh it's actually kind of more a designed thing but I mean what will the UN I mean if we want a long expansion of time to happen in game so that players are fighting in a war for 3 months in in the real world then

  17. 00:12:57

we would that would probably be a multi-year war feel really dragged out or at least a year like I feel to get that yeah but if like we're talking like the the Civil War Sharon 3 something that maybe players take part in or may not take part in maybe if it's a event that's happening it might be that might be a little bit closer but um yeah particularly if you're generating content for something as big as like a war you know you want to be able to let people you know you don't want to sell yourself short by having it last a week and then take it get rid of it yeah plus you usually don't go into Wars knowing how long they're going to last so that's kind of working in our favor right let's go fight a three-month War yeah I only got enough budget for three-month War cool I can do two all right 903

  18. 00:13:47

Harper uh 9 903 Harare now I'm just doing accents this joke's dying uh the current lore is quite the web of things to keep in mind uh what kind of internal system do you use to cross check for internal consistency um we uh have memory flash cards that we practice with every morning as we start the day just you know Caron Hades system and just drills constant a trained dog uh we have an internal wiki page that we use to sort a lot of things a lot of times we are using the public facing page just like you all are I'm searched the galactic guide post every single day to check information or things that we

  19. 00:14:35

said um it's it's really hard to keep track of everything and I my biggest resource and tool is Dave Dave you're my biggest tool he whenever I have a question I ask Dave and he most of the time will be able to Rattle off and answer off the top of his head it's pretty impressive up and that is it so yeah 10 for the chairman writers Edition possibly 10 plus I don't know how many made it into this thing yeah we'll see we were not we were not very succinct on a lot of those answers uh so thank you for subscribers for uh sending us the questions and uh thank you all for everything that you do to help keep this game going and our warmest wishes to Chris for a speedy recovery no I'm just kidding is totally fine

  20. 00:15:25
