There've been battles. There've been losses. Each and every one of you has proven yourself time and again. We will not lose the system. We will not fall back. Form up, gal. You got point. Copy that. Daddy's on me. Let's say hi. We will win. Because we have to. You've likely seen it before, but you

just saw a taste of the Squadron 42 trailer that premiered last week at CitizenCon 2948. What better way to welcome you to another episode of Around the Verse. I'm Sandi Gardiner. And I'm Chris Roberts. So, that trailer has actually generated over half a million views already. Yeah, no, it's done really well. We're really proud of it. Everyone that's been working hard on Squadron, it shows off a lot of the tech we've been working on to really upgrade how the characters look and feel to be really try to hone in the the look of the actors that performed all those roles. Speaking of actors, there was a there was a new one. There there was. Yeah, Henry Henry Cavill. Form up, gal. You got point. He's actually a massive PC gamer, so a few years ago his folks reached out to us and said yeah, Henry would be really interested in in
- 00:01:51
being part of Squadron 42. We're like yeah, that'd be brilliant. And he's such a awesome, really nice guy and he's a great actor. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. On the mocap set comparing our rigs. And he did have a rig that was appropriate to Superman. He had like three 1080s in SLI. So, we're happy to have him on board and we've been keeping under wraps for a couple of years now, which is sometimes hard to do. We got a few other people under wraps, so you never know what's going to be coming down the road. 800,000 views on his Instagram. Yes. And Mark Hamill was also happy about his look. Mark's wonderful. He's he's he's fantastic and he's quite the social maven, so He's good at that. Yeah, but he yeah, Mark, I mean, he's the he's the cornerstone of Squadron 42. I mean,
- 00:02:39
he's your basically partner in crime during the during the game. He's up. You want me to learn your name? On the graphic side and the character outside, the guys have really been working hard on making the characters much the closer to who the real actors are. So, we've we at CitizenCon we had some panels we talked about our new skin shading tech and also the hair tech we're actually modeling the individual hair and it makes a big difference in the lighting and how the characters look. So, you can see a massive step up between what we have now and what we had a few years ago. I mean, it really sort of brings them to life. Yeah. That's the idea of Squadron is you hopefully going to feel like you are the star or in the center of this huge mega budget sort of sci-fi space opera. And it's great. And yeah, and thank you to Mark for
- 00:03:27
also posting and promoting. I mean, he's great. On his Twitter people were saying you know, wow, congratulations of this movie that you're going to be in and other people are like oh, I'm going to catch it on Netflix. Yeah, that's good. It's a it's a triple A video game. that says something with the quality of why everyone's been achieving on the rendering side that it looks very filmic. And yeah, it probably will look even better by the time we release it. That's usually the way things go. But yeah, that's great. So, it went really well and we're really happy and the team's really excited by the reception and it is just a teaser. So, you know, this is sort of the beginning of us kind of showing kind of what the final feel of the game's going to be like. It's more about sort of mood and feel less so much about the story or the plot. But think of it like The Force Awakens

teaser that they did over a year out and we're you know, we're going to you know, reveal some stuff and we'll go along you know, in the in the future. map. We'll be showing the road map in December. Yes. And but the road map is not going to have the story. One of the one of the problems that we have with Squadron is we don't want to ruin the experience of the journey. So, it's very different than Star Citizen cuz Star Citizen is sort of a sandbox that you can do whatever you want and so we should talk about the systems and that won't really ruin your experience, but in the case of Squadron there's like there's some it's a great story and the characters are really great and so we always have this one of the reasons why it's more difficult for us to share Squadron stuff compared to Star Citizen stuff. So, that's why you may have seen us share less of that recently and more of the Star Citizen stuff, but cuz we want it to be a
- 00:05:01
a journey and a surprise when you when you play it. And I think it's going to be great. But that wasn't the only thing at CitizenCon by a long shot. Yeah, and now we were returning to Austin, Texas, which was a place we had the very first CitizenCon in 2013. It was our biggest community celebration to date. It was very, very cool. it was. I do want to thank all of the volunteers again cuz they worked some long hours. There was a lot of stuff going on. Lots and lots of things to do. There was two tracks of panels, other presentations, demos. There were a lot of little details for fans and backers to discover all day long. And there was all these like really cool touches like the manufacturer booths with their representatives, which were actors that never broke character, which was pretty damn cool. I think Jared and Tyler tried to get them to break. Aegis Aegis Aegis Aegis, how do you pronounce it? Let's settle this.
- 00:05:48
Aegis Dynamics. What is the UEE doing here? Yes, what is the UEE doing here? To a life-size dragonfly and theme food and drinks. Yeah, there was a huge amount of things to do and you know, anecdotally pretty much everyone that came up to me said it was the best CitizenCon yet for them. So, that was super cool. I got that, too. It certainly was a lot of fun. Check this out. What's your name? Solomon Drake. All right, can I take the picture now?
- 00:06:41
Can I take the picture now? You know, I you could you could say I might be a little bit of a Drake fan. What do you think about the Kraken? We just revealed it. Did you expect expected? Probably not. My goodness. Heck no, I didn't expect it. Human. The the community is great. The people I've met are awesome. The devs are even amazing. Like they're super nice. And they're they're listening to the community. Your thumbs up like you know, like you were saying I got big ears, you know, almost, you know, like like that. There you go. Okay, sweet. I was I was just about to ask if he can do that.
- 00:07:34
This whole event is absolutely fantastic. The fact that it is so large and everybody is so passionate here based off of one man's vision, a video game is it's staggering. Hey, did everybody have a good time today? There we go. Thank you very much to the fans for all of the gifts that we received. These are actually super cool. Yeah, these metal cards were made by someone that has a Yes. dwarf in the family or something. James Quail Draco. Jump club. Yeah, the jump club. It's a cool monocle that I can't
- 00:08:23
wear very well, but I'll try. There you go. Oh yeah, and we got some other we got some other challenge coins. Here's the coin. Yeah, yeah, the same one. This one's the space. From from Metauchi. or whatever. We got some Imperium shot glasses that I didn't use those on the evening, but one drink and I was There you go. Yeah, it was very nice. Um Um Yes, thank you very much to the and making them small, too, so I could I could carry them home. I actually saw quite a few fans um at the airport, which was somewhat embarrassing. The number of selfies I had in the cafe line was quite funny. It was a good time. It was a good time. It was really great to see everyone who made it out to Austin and we thank all of you, even those that were watching at home
- 00:09:10

And here on ATV we'll be taking a bit of a deep dive into the tech and design that brought that mission walk-through to life. Yes, or death as the case may have been. Yes. Rest in peace, Clive. He made that jump every single time in in the run-throughs and then when it was the big time in spotlight.
- 00:09:58
